I'm starting to struggle with my wrists but my work is office based so lots of typing. I have a wrist cushion but feel like I need to use wearable wrist supports now. Can any one recommend supports that are compatible with typing and comfortable to wear. I am quite sensitive in the joint between index finger and thumb too so would prefer something that's not too rigid there.

Wrist supports
I use these but I think most people on here will tell you to ask to see (I think it’s) the occupational health or maybe physiotherapy people at your hospital and get a pair specially made for you.
Thank you, should I expect my consultant to point me in the directions for aids and other support or is this something I need to go back to my GP for?
My consultant and rheumy nurse referred me to the OT within the rheumy department (she smiled and said that she'd had 2 referrals) and she supplied me with wrist splints and showed me hand exercises and aids. I was then able to self-refer back to her and did so about a year later when she gave me more splints and some compression gloves. I'd ring the rheumy department and see how things work in your health authority.
2Pack Version Profession Wrist Support Brace, Adjustable Wrist Strap Reversible Wrist Brace for Sports Protecting/Tendonitis Pain Relief/Carpal Tunnel/Arthritis, Right&Left.I’ve got these from Amazon they were about £9 for two…..have a look at them they might be what you need …they are very adjustable and they don’t have any metal in them.
I just use them during the day I sleep in the ones with the metal.
I would recommend Neo-G. I tried a few different ones, but these to me are the most supportive and give your wrists a hug.. aw

Here’s the link but you can also get them at Boots’.
As Boxerlady has said, ask for a referral to the OT. I got some splints from them, some compressions gloves, and some ‘resting’ splints which are moulded to your hands and forearms. I have a whole basket full of different ones, including ones with additional thumb support. My RA likes to be different on any given day…
Sorry to hear this. Do ask your Rheumatologist for a referral to Occupational Therapy as I'm sure they could help you.
To be honest I bought and tried every sort and had occupational health make me some. The best solution for me apart from a central mouse was just to wrap one of those elasticated supports which has a hole to go over your thumb (which doesn’t really work: design flaw!) round my wrists and secure with the Velcro. Other sort aren’t great for hand washing either.
Do not go there! Wrist supports will actually damage you if you wear them for too long. I was advised to only wear them when travelling as they will weaken the muscles. Like most of us the poxy keyboard is a killer for bad wrists and unfortunately no amount of adjustment/pacing will help. It's a slippery slope.
I had wrist and thumb splints made for me by Occupational Therapy. I was referred through rheumatology and they make them to measure. This is quite a few years ago now so I don't know if they still refer but worth asking. I found them to be very beneficial and I could type with them on.
I have a crackered wrist. I use a vertical mouse. You can find plenty on Amazon to look at. If you have enough USB slots you can have both a traditional and vertical one plugged in at the same time. I switch between the two during the day.
