Waiting for this biologic 2 damards have not worked, any advice , experience, would be most appreciated. Thank you
Amgevita. : Waiting for this biologic 2 damards have... - NRAS
Amgevita.
If you put that into the search box (or adalimumab) and filter for NRAS then all the past posts about it will come up.
No matter which drug is involved ….it is not an exact science I’m afraid.Your rheumatologist will have called on all his/her experience in choosing your first Biologic…but sometimes it just doesn’t work.
So be optimistic & don’t be put off if you read Amgevita hasn’t suited somebody….. luckily these days there are other drugs you can try.
With RA medication……It’s always a waiting game & trying to be patient.
Press release Oct 2018 for launch of Amgevita in Europe amgen.com/newsroom/press-re...
This means it's fairly new (in Europe at least)
It is a biosimilar to Humira which has been around for a lot longer. I started Humira in 2006 and was switched to Amgevita in 2018. They are both adalimumab.
Thanks Potatos (or should I say Potatos? (as that old Tomatos song goes)). It seems helpful to treatment to try to gain a good knowledge of the drugs which are offered.

Hiya, yes I was on amgevita for 5 months last year. It really helped and my bloods were normal for the first time in years, no morning stiffness at all!Unfortunately I had to stop as I started having awful palpitations..if this hadn’t happened I’d have been thrilled.
What helped me was to take the pen out of the fridge for 30 minutes before injecting…and I always injected into my tummy as found other sites uncomfortable.
Know we’re all different so I wish you the best of luck.
Hi. Started Amgevita 18 months ago - along with hydroxychloroquin and methotrexate which I had been taking since diagnosis 3 years ago (aged 57). The 3 drugs together work very well for me and I have no pain to speak of. In fact I was able to reduce my methotrexate dose from 20mg to 15mg just over 3 months ago. Good luck with your journey 👍
I was in exactly the same situation for 6 months- steroid injections alone did not help and had to go onto full dose naproxene plus co codamol together to cope with the pain etc - Try to find the level of pain relief you need and keep on questioning the Rheumatology tem about this- eventually 8th weekly injection in my biologic worked and now I don't need anything else - hopefully this will continue.. Good luck
Brilliant, so pleased for you 🙏
adalimumab has been marvellous for me. But this is not an exact science yet. The way in which it works may not suit your particular version of auto-immune disease, so be patient. My sister has had three previous ones and has success with he last one sarilumimab.
My experience in 20_+ years of RA is that searching for the right mix of medication can take time - unfortunately. This is true even of biologics which work on different aspects. Its hard, but perhaps important to know it can be a bit of a search. Once you get the right mix, it can make a huge difference.
