First consultation update

Firstly a big thank you for all the advice that I got when I posted yesterday. I took a document covering general health before onset, onset and symptoms which was very helpful. The consultant listened to everything and then did a small amount of joint examination. He said that joints are swollen including fingers which honestly don't hurt that much compared with others. He concluded that I have myalgic onset rheumatoid arthritis. He felt that x-rays were not necessary for the diagnosis due to symptoms and blood test results but I'll be having some done for baseline setting. Gave me a steroid injection with a view to prescribing methotrexate in a few weeks. I'm happy with how the consultation went but still shocked that from feeling great 3.5 months ago I have a this diagnosis. Looks like I'll be staying with this lovely, helpful community for the duration and am no longer a gate crasher.

I was 100 per cent fit and was dealt the blow of myalgic onset of Arthritis Oct last year. It certainly drains you physically and mentally. I was on Prednisolone, result, astounding then on to Sulfasalazine, reaction, then off, now on Methotrexate as I reduce Prednisolone to coming off soon. 🤞. Don't feel Methotrexate is supporting my pain, coupled with Folic acid.

Sorry, you’ve been / are going through this. I hope that you get sorted with appropriate medication soon. It has become apparent from reading posts here that it’s not as straightforward as I’d hoped. At the moment just a good nights sleep would be welcomed.

Glad you had a good and thorough consultation. Methotrexate has worked wonders for me and I hope it does the same for you.

I'm sorry that you need to join our community, but you might find it useful now!

Please read reliable sources of information such NRAS and Versus Arthritis, and ask here for personal experience - of which there is lots! Remember that most people get along fine with their medication - we usually only post when we are having problems, so it kind of gives a negative slant, when medication is so much better now than when I started on this journey.

That’s terrific news that your consultation went well and it sounds as though you’ve had your diagnosis confirmed too. Sorry you’ve had to join our club but you’re so welcome. Keep us updated how you’re getting on as it will be very useful for those who come to the forum for information as you did initially. I hope mtx works well for you and the depo steroid helps your every day symptoms even for a short while. Anyway welcome 🤗
