Had enough now ! feel like myself as RA Imunecompromised and my husband severe Immunecompromised Kidney transplant will never get our life back or be safe ! Boris knows there are still vulnerable and exstremely vulnerable people they are a disgrace and act as if everyone is ok !!!
Covid safety rules to stop ! : Had enough now ! feel... - NRAS
Covid safety rules to stop !

Makes a mockery of us having to sheild and stop working in the first place, especially when your self employed like I am, when he's now hung us out to dry!! Boris attitude, survival of the fittest now!! Blokes a prize tit!!!
Shielding kept those really vulnerable safe when they needed to be. You weren’t forced to shield the same as you’ll not be forced to not wear a mask and keep yourself safe. Some people had to make this decision for themselves a long time ago as they hadn’t the option of not working. We can’t shut ourselves away forever.
No need to be so catty kitty!!I've worked this whole shambles, I run my own business that deals with the public on a daily basis and I've had to come up with new ideas to keep myself safe as no one else is bothered! I have a partner who runs a preschool and kids at school, so it's a bit worrying when your told your at risk of serious illness bit basically waiting at home to catch it from my family! I've asked to go back to the gym as its great for my own mental health, my rheumatologist had advised against, especially around people who are puffing and panting, now with no one having to isolate I feel less safe than before, who cares about that, I know alot who feel the same, and I'm glad you don't and can get on with your life, some people are not programmed like that. I respect your decisions to put yourself out there the way you should mine, well agree to disagree on this! 😉
I'm very keen to get back to my spa, which is mainly outdoors. I get a tremendous sense of wellbeing from it and the achy muscles appreciate the heat too. Like you my rheumatologist has advised against for 'a few weeks yet', it would be such a shame to succumb to Covid after all this time.
We all need to respect each other decisions that's all, no one is right with this it's still all relatively new and changing situation!! I'm all for getting back out there and back to normal, but it's not normal anymore, the people that didn't care now care less and the lovely people who help now help more, the divide is getting wider, I can see it, I can't stop being worried I've had a few close calls, my family have all had, I missed it, but I won't have people telling me it's a head cold or to just get out there, because for me it may not be a headcold, and one stupid slip up could cost! I'm very careful, and being self employed have had to work through and not sheild even though specialist advised against it!Were all Individuals and should appreciate the situations were in and what this site offers and respect each others decisions! 😊
Absolutely agree Dave, I've also noticed the divide getting bigger between people with many just not respecting each others situations. I hope you remain to stay safe.
What’s catty about what I said? 🤷🏻♀️ You said you had to stop working that’s why I replied. If you hadn’t said that I wouldn’t have, you were obviously in the same situation as me.?
Sounded funny that's all kitty!! I'm a sarcastic git! No seriously I appreciate everyone's opinions so was joking around, it's this situation that pees me off of uncertainty!! No malice intended!! 😉
I’m sorry to disagree with you…..but our lives & the economy must start to get going. We will all have to make the decision how we cope……if you think about it……what can’t you do ….if you take care?
I think once we get used to the idea life will become bearable…yes- different but we will have a life…so we are winners there aren’t we?
Totally agree with you. Not going to say anything further as it got me into hot water the last time 😂
I agree too. We need to get our economy back on track and look after the mental health of the whole population. I think it’s time for everyone to make decisions for themselves.
I appreciate that it might make some people feel nervous but we are in a very different place to two years ago when people were told to shield. Most people will have made a good response to the vaccines and there are various antiviral and antibody treatments available to those who haven’t.
Absolutely agree. The economy cannot be held back anymore or the country will be bankrupt! There will be no money to pay the pensions of our young workers when the time comes, let alone ours!
We should do whatever is best to protect ourselves as individuals without putting that burden on our younger and fitter working generation.
The pension age has been raised again … Those born between 6th April 1960 & 5th March 1961 (me 😦)will reach their state pension age at 66 years & a certain number of months, depending on your actual birthday. So, for example, anyone born between 6th May 1960 & 5th June1960 will reach state pension age at 66 years & 2 months. Another example… those born between 6th April 1977 & 5th May 1977 will reach state pension age on 6th May 2044. Next review is July 2023! Use this to calculate yours gov.uk/state-pension-age
Taking away the legality of isolating puts workers at risk as they have no legal back-up. You need to think more broadly.

We don't isolate people at risk from flu yet it kills people every year. The virus if it mutates again, can be once again put us back into self isolation but we must move forward.
Vulnerable people at risk have no legal protection in the workplace. Which part of that don’t you understand?

Why are you being so rude ? I've not been nasty to you so please don't be horrid. If you're not prepared to accept others might feel differently then you might just be on the slippery slope of dictatorship. And I got a Covid positive test today and am on the priority for new treatments so hopefully it will be ok. But in reality I've been very careful, only gone out with a mask and washed hands etc not been to cinema, theatre or even around chums for coffee so how have I got it ? no idea ! And so back off as I'm not getting into a keyboard war with someone so bitter and offensive for no reason other than its their way or no way. I understand you may be frightened or worried about your situation but you've no idea of my or anyone else so should not respond in such an offensive manner.

I understand, but prior to covid we were at risk from flu etc. I had no legal protection then but I had my annual jab and chose to keep myself safe by not putting myself into high risk situations. I've done exactly the same since covid came along and luckily have been safe. I will continue with this strategy whatever the government decide to do.

I think we are thinking as broadly as we can,,,& unless someone can find a way to keep the economy buoyant enough to service health, education,, transport & everything else the state provides…we just have to move forward. We are complaining about GPs & hospital waiting lists now….how ever would we manage if they just weren’t there at all?
Much as some people feel hard done by….I think they are in the minority of the 60+million population …so let’s hope things are set to improve soon.
Vulnerable people at risk have no legal protection in the workplace. Which part of that don’t you understand?
Definitely AC, do people expect restrictions to go on forever? There’s nothing to stop people using their own judgement ( as some have been doing for a long time) and taking the precautions they feel they need to to help them feel safer. Some people have worked throughout in jobs that put them at more risk and managed to stay safe so it is possible.
Exactly…look how we have all relied on supermarket workers, bus drivers garage workers for Petrol…these people weren’t immune toCovid….personally I am very grateful to them…many of whom in my area are still wearing masks all day…not like us who only need to put them on for short periods…& for me that’s quite long enough. And as Tempo57 illustrates…..unless people get back to work & get back to paying income tax……we will all be in a mess.
After all….the money the Government spends is our money from our taxes….…& we all need all the facilities it provides.
I’m sure once the figures forced down our throats every evening on the TV news are made less prominent…people will start to feel safer.
I don't agree we can continue to mask if we want to, and choose where we go. No one is being forced into anything it's up to each to decide for themselves. And I have CKD as well as RA and am going out as normal with a mask and will continue to do so. It's my choice.
Just wishing to offer some reassurance in these difficult times. I do understand your concerns, you have a lot to contend with. We know someone with lymphoma who is currently undergoing chemotherapy but caught covid through a care home visit. The hospital were amazing, they couriered the drugs to their home once she tested positive and within a few days she was back up and running and only missed one chemo treatment. My understanding is that these antivirals are going to be available to an increasing number of people soon . Perhaps a game changer. I hope this offers a little ray of hope to you. xx
The government have issued the list of people who can access the antivirals. However are people aware it's up to the clinician if they're prescribed.....so not a given. Have heard of some people clinically extremely vulnerable told they're not I'll enough!!!! This goes against guidelines that they should be given in the first 5 days of infection, not waiting to see how ill someone gets. More anomalies by this government. Boris's decision to stop isolation is purely political and is not what SAGE would recommend. We have these scientific bodies for a reason, don't believe Boris has any scientific qualifications the last I heard. Feel sorry for supermarket workers and others in a public setting, knowing they are going to work with Covid running rampant in their work environment with no protection.
I was listening to a discussion with a doctor who stated that with the advances in knowing how to treat Covid, as well as the vaccines, we should consider that we are at the same risk of serious consequences as we were before the pandemic.
So yes I have RA, and yes I take drugs that affect my immune system, but I am vaccinated and am now living my life as normal. I take care in crowded places and will continue to wear a mask.
You husband will have to be more careful, but presumably he was before the pandemic.
I understand how you feel, however we have always been vulnerable. In some ways nothing has changed there. When I think back I often used to pick up a bug after a gig or going to the theatre. As Helixhelix says there have been so many advancements in how to manage Covid now, at the start there was little knowledge.
I’m still scared about catching it but I can make my own choices about where I go and my personal protection.. I’ll still avoid crowded places, busy shops etc but I want to start living my life again.
Maybe if you get some FFP2 or similar masks that protect you , you will feel more confident.
The trouble is…the few people I know who have caught the virus have no idea where they picked it up.Thankfully although some are elderly…none were badly affected…even those regarded as vulnerable.
They didn’t visit anywhere they hadn’t been before…or invite anyone new to their homes……. they wore their masks & washed their hands….so where does one catch Covid?
The answer is ….nobody can tell…..so we really must stop thinking locking ourselves away is the answer….we are all vaccinated now & we must try to pick up our lives ….& get on looking forward to as normal a future as possible.
Again, totally agree AC. Locking people away means they aren’t going to become exposed to new viruses. When they do catch one, be it a new strain of cold or the flu virus, it’s going to hit them hard, even perhaps with death because they haven’t exposed themselves to the outside world.
We all need to be exposed, albeit not too much. Intensity and lengthy duration to a virus makes the outcome more serious. A little bit can be helpful in keeping one’s immune system on its toes!
And as you say AC…no one really knows how they caught it. I’ve had it twice and no one could have been more careful of their whereabouts, mask wearing, washing my hands until they were sore…but I still caught it.
There could be something in your thinking.
I was talking with some ex work colleagues ..all of whom like me spent many years travelling around the world …& none of us…all 70+ have caught Covid.
When I was travelling so much, …years before being diagnosed with RA my GP remarked it was amazing I remained so healthy & he reckoned my immune system must have been so confused….it leapt into action against every little germ….whichever country I was in…& no matter how virulent the bugs I very rarely picked up anything.
So although I am being careful, I’m sort of hoping that might still be the case!😳
Hmm, YOU MAY WELL HAVE A POINT ABOUT BEING HIT HARD BY A VIRUS AFTER BEING LOCKED AWAY AS YOU PUT IT. I'M ALL FOR HAVING A GO AT KEEPING MY IMMUNE SYSTEM ON ITS TOES PROVIDING YOU LET ME KNOW HOW TO EXPOSE MYSELF TO JUST A LITTLE BIT OF VIRUS BE IT COVID, FLU OR WHATEVER?
It’s not difficult to do this. Go to the pub, shops, a restaurant, walk through the shopping malls and take a few risks by mixing with others, masked up for the protection of others of course. Just make sure you don’t expose yourself for long periods at a time, such as sitting in a cinema, flying on a plane, or attending A&E (if you can avoid it). If there’s any Covid in the air (as there surely will be), hopefully you get exposed to a bit of it.
I’ve had 3 x 36 hour viruses since just prior to Christmas. Almost like colds.
I threw them off quickly without any worrying effects, which had I not ventured out to the shops, etc., and just isolated myself from other shoppers and diners I think I’d have suffered a lot more than cold like symptoms when I eventually decided to venture out.
I’m only too pleased that I did mix with the general public in the last few months…albeit for short durations at a time of course. It’s healthy in the long run… if you get what I mean.
Take care, T57
I don't think there's much in the way of scientfic evidence to support that and even if it did work for you that doesn't mean it will for others. Much too risky for me to try i'm afraid. l'll carry on taking precautions unti i'M personally satisfied that it's time to stop, and by that i don't mean by locking myself away because i don't, but do admit to being somewhat nervous travelling on a crowded bus, especially with passengers not wearing a mask.
PS.....APOLOGIES FOR VARYING FONTS BUT HAVING ISSUES POSTING ON THIS BOARD.
I too would be concerned about traveling on a crowded bus and you’re very wise to avoid doing to. As I said, one doesn’t want a large intensity of the virus.
Masks don’t save us from catching it and that’s a well known fact, but they can prevent others spreading it. I for one would certainly wear a mask on a bus/train out of respect for other travelers. Unfortunately so many people just don’t care about protecting their fellow human beings.
T57
Hi Trace58
I can understand your fears, why don't you give the NRAS helpline a ring to talk it over and hopefully they can make you feel a little better with the facts? There will be a lot of people feeling the same especially as the medical evidence doesn't support it unless I am wrong, waiting until the end of March made more sense to me but hey what do I know..plus I am not trying to win the support of the country or my colleagues, boosters will eventually wain also and people are still getting unwell with this variant and needing time off sick from work, but we can't stay cooped up for ever. ..Everyone's opinion should be listened to without judgement..what may be right for some may not be right for others. Best wishes xx
I too am immunocompromised and very worried about catching Covid but I don't think everyone else and the economy should suffer because of that. We have to learn to live with Covid and I really do believe we are more scared than we need to be, thanks to the nudge units efforts. The vaccines are effective against serious illness AND there are many more effective treatments now. Would you expect the country to lockdown because of flu? I know it is scary, but I really do think that we are more afraid than we need to be. I also feel that I want more of a normal life than I have had in the past 2 years.
Well, if a flu variant like the 1918 outbreak (which had healthy young people dropping dead in the street) appeared, then lockdowns would have to happen. However, we are indeed going to have to loosen up sometime and things look promising at the moment - so long as government is really looking at the data and not just trying to get positive headlines. I'm wary of sudden announcements that all precautions will be ditched on a specific date.
We all know this has been brought forward to try and save Boris’s skin. However even though numbers have been creeping up, that hasn’t resulted in an increase in hospital admissions or deaths. The plan B rules were only to stop the nhs being overwhelmed, and they’ve now found that omicron hasn’t resulted in higher numbers being admitted. So I think we have to accept life goes on, we are in a much better place than previously when restrictions were lifted. We are all vaccinated, and even those of us who didn’t get a good response, have access to monoclonal antibodies or antivirals. In some ways we are more protected than other CEV like diabetics who won’t be entitled to treatment. We are still able to make our own choices who we mix with, where we go etc. I would hope those that work have risk assessments to reduce their risk at work, and if not I’d be insisting on one. I’ve enjoyed getting back out to supermarkets, browsing shops etc, eating in quiet cafes and meeting my nursing friends outdoors for a wander and coffee. Covid is here to stay for the foreseeable future, for me hiding away isn’t living, and life is too short. However we all have to make our own choices, and I respect others who choose a different path. Risk wise we are probably where we were re potential risks before Covid, as I’m sure your husband was very cautious before the pandemic due to his transplant. There were risks before covid, we just didn’t think about them, we took them for granted, covid has changed that. Take care and stay safe 🤗
I've been advised by Leukaemia UK that it's not a given people classed as extremely vulnerable will get the antivirals. The decision is left with the clinician.....so to some extent pot luck....no guarantees.
Well at least the people who make the decision have had time to see how the anti virals are either helping or not for each condition they have been used.
Well the Government website states all blood cancer patients to receive the antivirals. This is misleading. They need to stipulate where it would not be effective.
I think the doctors will be deciding that…not the politicians. There are so many different forms of blood cancer….one treatment won’t treat all…oncologists, haematologists…& no doubt many other specialties will be involved…even people with the same cancer ..patient A will need a different drug from Patient B.
Absolutely one size doesn't fit all. My concerns are people being told they are'nt ill enough as one reason not to prescribe. When the whole point of the priority PCR's are not to wait for progression, meds need to be administered within 5 days. Some of the clinicians not aware of the protocol it would appear. Quite concerning.
By the time the patient is in front of the doctor, having been referred by either their GP or 111 ..I think the doctor will know what to do.If a doctor told me in his professional opinion I didn’t need the drugs yet….I would believe him.
The majority of us on here don’t have enough knowledge to know if/when we might need to have them.
It’s not doing anybody any good second guessing what will happen…,the anti virals will not be suitable for every condition…we have to understand that… and there is not an endless supply..I think I read 400,000 doses were available.
So try to stop reading about Covid & the virals, just concentrate on keeping healthy.
I live in Kent did the Lateral Flow test at 9.00 am spoke to GP receptionist at about half past. GP rang how was I ? at 10.30 and husband has been sent to get an oximetry kit whatever that is LOL. She will call again tomorrow but if SATS outside of the perameter then call on special phone number and they get me a bed in hospital. Seems to be a system that could now be working a bit better as seemed very efficient. The Track and Trace have pinged my son and DIL already as I saw them on Sunday and so now its paracetamol and TV for the day. I actually so far only have a rotten headache and sore throat. So Hagan Daz beckons and I'm opening the Quality Street tin in a minute and ordering tea from the chip shop ! I don't normally eat chips that often but this is an exceptional circumstance and I need some . lol xxx
I've heard the same. By clinician do you mean someone's consultant decides, or is it up to the treatment team to decide if we are eligable for antivirals? I really hope it's the former rather than the decision being made by people who are not really familiar with our medical history and are there just to tick of boxes. Not sayING THAT NECESSARILY WILL BE THE CASE BUT!...........
I understood it to mean the treatment team. I feel AgedCrone stating there are 400,000 doses available, speaks volumes. There is no mention anywhere what the criteria is, my thoughts when we didn't get letters and PCR's was are there sufficient stocks of antivirals. I'm not spending all my time reading abut Covid nor am I stupid but feel the government keeps moving the goal post. I HAVE NO FAITH IN THEM they appeared to offer us some forms of security, but this is veiled. Thanks Maureen Gibson will check out your attachment.
THANKS FOR REPLYING, I TAKE a JAK INHIBITOR, WHICH APPARENTLY FLATTENS T-CELL RESPONSE THAT PLAY AN IMPORTANT PART IN FIGHTING INFECTIONS, AGAIN APPARENTLY. YET THIS CLASS OF IMMUNOSUPPRESSANT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE DRUGS THAT QUALIFY FOR ANTIVIRAL TREATMENT. ALONG WITH THAT I ALSO HAVE PULMONARY FIBROSIS, WHICH CAN'T BE A GOOD THING WITH A RESPIRATORY VIRUS THAT AFFECTS THE LUNGS PROBABLY MORESO THAN ANY OF THE OTHER MAIN ORGANS YET I'M NOT ELIGABLE FOR ANTIVIRALS AND IS THE REASON WHY I WOULD PREFER MY CONSULTANT OR GP TO DECIDE RATHER THAN A TEAM OF PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH MY PARTICULAR HEALTH ISSUES. WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT AND WHILE CERTAIN IMMUNOSUPPRESSING DRUGS ARE MORE LIKELY TO SHOW A LOW OR NON-EXISTANT ANTIBODY RESPONSE TO THE VACCINES AND SHOULD BE PRIORITISED, HOW CAN THEY POSSIBLY TELL WHAT SORT OF ANTIBODY RESPONSE PEOPLE ON OTHER IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS HAVE IF THEY DON'T TEST THEM. PERHAPS MY EXPECTATIONS ARE TOO HIGH OR I'M BEING IMPATIENT AND SELFISH, BUT THAT'S HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE CURRENT SITUATION.
AS FOR HAVING FAITH IN GOVERNMENT....CAN'T SAY I HAD ANY CONFIDENCE IN THEM FROM THE ONSET OF THE PANDEMIC AND MY CYNICISM HAS STEADILY GROWN AS EVENTS HAVE MATERIALISED, BUT BEST I NOT GO DOWN THAT ROAD HERE.
EDIT...APOLOGIES FOR HAVING TO USE CAPITALS, BUT I'M HAVING ISSUES POSTING HERE AND HAVE TO TAKE WHATEVER TYPE OF FONT IS WORKING AT THE TIME.
I have attached the latest guidance on who qualifies, certain leukaemias are listed. If you check page 12 it gives details. If your not eligible due to not being on the relevant meds suppressing your immune system, then the good news is you should have mounted a good response to the vaccine. The antivirals are targeted at those who are less likely to have mounted a good response. Anyone over 50, or 18-49 with health conditions can apply to the study that allows you access to the antiviral via the panoramic trial: panorama trial.org
Here’s the document re eligibility
I'm sure I read that lateral flow tests will no longer be given out. If that's corrects if we feel unwell how will we know if it's covid in order to get the anti viral drugs straight away? I didn't receive a priority pcr kit, read on here a few days ago that they ran out of them.
You can ring up and get one if you need one.
I realise that but if you've got to wait for it to arrive it will delay starting anti viral meds. I'm talking here in general, i did phone 119 when I realised that I wasn't going to get the priority pcr kit. The lady on the phone told me it's not the same as the priority one, adding if a priority one did arrive I was to throw away the one she was sending out and use the priority one if I'd had symptoms because i would get the results quicker.
Now really is the time for Positive thinking. You haven’t contracted Covid so far …..so there is no reason for you to contract it in the future …..every time you have a little wobble tell yourself that!
If you think you have Covid… … if it’s during surgery hours you should call your GP and they will tell you what you need to do if it’s outside surgery hours you should call 111 and they will also tell you what you need to do.Look back through these posts there is a more detailed description of how to get referred to the Covid medicine distribution unit
I don't think I've got covid AC, it's just me and my mind racing ahead. Both husband and myself are very careful, still doing hands, face, space. On saying that though, husband a couple of weeks ago caught a cold, bit of a mystery how because he puts his mask on before he gets out of the car and doesn't take it off till he gets back in the car. Me with the suppressed immune system, who's suppose to be more susceptible to picking viruses up didn't catch it of him.
There was a comment made by the health secretary a week or so ago, about they would be accepting positive LFTs that are registered on the government site from 10th Feb which coincides with the Pfizer antiviral being added to the list.
This document states on page 3 about accepting LFTs. For some reason it’s been quietly sneaked in and they don’t seem to be announcing it, which seems absurd. I suggest saving the document so you can quote it to your GP if needed.
It’s going to be a difficult time for many isn’t it.
I doubt Boris Johnson’s announcement followed any scientific or medical advice, it was purely political and self serving. Especially given that scientist and first ministers were neither consulted or even aware of his intention. To be honest I’m not sure Boris was, it smacked of desperation to me…. All my humble opinion, of course.
Thankfully, here in Scotland it is unlikely that our Covid regulations will be abolished.
I BELIEVE THE JOHNSON GOVERNMENT STOPPED LISTENING TO THE SCIENTISTS SOME TIME AGO. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME WE SAW CHRIS WHITTY et al ON ANY OF THE MAIN MEDIA CHANNELS or heard government ministers say "we are following the science" , which they repeatedly did ad nauseam earlier in the pandemic.
WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT WHILE I APPRECIATE THINGS HAVE TO RETURN TO NORMAL, WHATEVER THAT IS, I STILL CAN'T SEE A VALID REASON NOT continuing TO MAKE MASK WEARING COMPULSORY ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND IN SHOPS WHERE MANY VUNERABLE PEOPLE, INCLUDING MYSELF, HAVE LITTLE CHOICE OOTHER THAN USE. SHOULD ADD THAT I'M TALKING ABOUT CUSTOMERS HERE AND DON'T EXPECT SHOP WORKERS TO WEAR A MASK FOR AN ENTIRE SHIFT.
LIKE Mmrr, i'm also pleased i don't live in england and in one of the of the other uk nations, wales in my case, who are taking a more cautious approach regarding precautions.
PLEASE EXCUSE USE OF CAPITALS etc....FOR SOME REASON I'M HAVING ISSUES TYPING A POST ON HU
Really cannot argue with that 😊
Hope not as i'm a slow single finger typist to begin with and it's hard work writing a post while having to contend with varying fonts and refusals to print certain letters, namely "i, u and b" . Even the smileys won't go where i place them.
Replies on a postcard please......
🙂
Did you ask Tech Support Wishy?
YES, SOON AFTER YOU TOLD ME. THEY SAID THEY'D LOOK INTO IT BUT NOT HEARD ANYTHING SINCE. WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF THEY'RE AS CONFUSED AS I AM, THOUGH I DO THINK IT COULD BE CHROMEBOOK RELATED. MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA FOR ME TO POST ASKING IF ANY OTHER CHROMEBOOK USERS HERE ARE HAVING ISSUES....PROVIDING THERE ARE ANY OF COURSE.
CAPITALS SEEM TO WORK BEST, MOST OF THE TIME ANYWAY........
As long as nobody takes umbrage thinking you're shouting at them! As if! Might be worth running off a quick email to Tech Support again as well as asking here?
i usually let people know the problem when i post and, will contact tech support again.
I know you do Wishy, I’m just joshing. If it's not an HU problem could you ask at the place you bought it from? Or, if it's not under guarantee an independent computer repair type place.
I HAD THE ODD ISSUE WITH MY original chromebook but nothing like this. That paRTICULAR MACHINE CONKED OUT A MONTH OR SO AGO. The problems really took off with the new replacement Chromebook. I reTURNED that one to the shop who kindly replaced it with an updated model of my original chromebook, but the problem persists though not quite qs bad as the one i returned to the shop, which was a different make to the other two...if you get my drift? 😳🙂
Think it best to contact the tech team again.
Yay, the last sentence is right! Yes, I get it. If Tech Support draw a blank I can only think of returning to the shop yet again, see if they can understand why you're having the issues, but it's a pain. My h has an acer Chromebook, he didn't like it as much as his previous Windows but has got used to it the longer he's had it. I think given the choice he'd have gone for an upgrade but it's done now.
If you have noticed this happens virtually every day one person or another has all capitals or their typing is underlined and no matter what you do …..you can’t change it ….so you just carry on!I have found if you exit and then come back onto the site it rights itself.
It does seem so. I know Wishy has been having problems since he got a new Chromebook, but only on HU. I've been having my replies disappearing once I hit Reply, once & sometimes on second attempt, to the point I now copy text if it's more than a couple of lines before hitting Reply so at least I'm not typing it all again. This is on an iPad too.
We may not be legally required to wear face masks in public in England but I'm still wearing my mask when out & will continue to until I'm convinced it's safe not to, & not necessarily on the say so of the Government. Too many not doing for my liking so I feel I need to do what I can to protect myself. Hang what the maskless masses think, they're not concerned with my health, I am! 😷
For anyone unsure, or the baffled, these are the actual rules for England as of 31.1.22
• face coverings remain a requirement in healthcare settings such as GP surgeries, hospitals and care homes
• the government recommends that people wear face coverings in enclosed or private spaces where they are mixing with people they do not know
•. masks are required on public transport in London, including the Tube, and passengers can be refused entry or told to leave for not complying
•. many major retailers including Tesco, Sainsburys, Lidl, Waitrose and John Lewis have asked staff and customers to keep wearing a face covering
That's pretty mUCH HOW I THINK REGARDING THE WEARING OF MASKS.
I stopped listening to government advice, of whatever nation, since not long after the onset of the pandemic. think i've got a good grasp of what needs doing to avoid getting infected without relying on them telling me what to do. Sorry for sounding so cynical but that's how i've increasingly come to think during this pandemic.
I DON'T THINK THE GUIDANCE FOR WEARING MASKS IN WALES IS VERY DIFFERENT TO WHAT YOU'VE POSTED , EXCEPT THAT IT IS STILL COMPULSORY.
If we haven’t got the hang of looking after ourselves by now…we never will.As I said previously…the few people I know who have caught Covid…have absolutely no idea where they picked it up …none of them had done anything out of the ordinary that they haven’t been doing for the last couple of years.
The one saving grace is none of them were very sick ….a couple just had an annoying cough for a couple of weeks.
We do need to get back to 'normal' at some point, of course we do. When we do, there will be people who remain more vulnerable than the bulk of the population, life cannot stand still for CEV people, of which I am one, (and one who has taken great care throughout the pandemic). That said, I'm pleased I don't live in England, which seems to be ditching all mitigations with gay abandon.
The other 3 Nations which make up the UK, and the rest of the world seem to be taking a more measured approach of which I'm thankful.
They don’t care. One Tory MP has proposed that ‘competitive medical advice’ be included in Public Health Law. You couldn’t make it up.
I am medically retired, so CHOOSE whatever I do/ wherever I go. People who HAVE to go to work [and are immuno-compromised] are the ones who are the most vulnerable I think.

The health secretary said that the immunosuppressed will still follow the rules set for them, which means if they can work from home they should. If not they should have a conversation with their employers re reducing risk. Typical of the government they haven’t updated their policy yet, but it still stands currently
175,000 Covid deaths in the UK (mentioned on death certificate). More excess deaths to come due to NHS waiting lists. theguardian.com/world/2022/...

Many of the deaths which mentioned Covid on death certificates where because the ill patient caught Covid in hospital whilst been treated for something else which they were admitted for. That’s the part which makes me angry. One is supposed to go to hospital for help to get better, not for the hospital to give you something that kills you!
Underfunding/ overcrowding issues will continue. People are already dying because they can’t access chemo etc.

I know, it’s very sad indeed. The Gov waste money in so many ways that this shouldn’t have to happen
Unfortunately as this virus is airborne you cannot prevent it completely. Hospitals still have public walking around without masks due to exemptions. Also many of those who died in hospital did not die of covid, they died of other causes and just happened to have tested positive for covid. It would be more useful to know how many died of Covid, rather than this rule if you had it within 28 days. With the delta variant many survived beyond the 28 days, as it could take 2 weeks before they were hospitalised. These patients won’t show in the numbers as they may have spent weeks on ventilator. There are many flaws to the current published numbers, but many of the hospitalised patients were asymptomatic and just picked up on routine testing on admission. So not all caught covid in hospital, they probably hadn’t tested before admission as they had no symptoms

The report on the numbers of people who incorrectly had Covid included in Cause of Death on their Death Certificate is due out next month. We shall then see if the figure has been exaggerated .
Look at the excess deaths figures. They are the ones you need to concentrate on.

What we actually need to know is …..was Patient X’s death caused only by Covid….not by any other condition.A friend of mine died suffering from cancer & pneumonia.
He was not tested for Covid, his wife was allowed to sit with him for 48 hours prior to his passing & that day she did not test positive …but his Death Certificate states X + X + Covid.
Apparently there are a lot of instances like this..which is why the survey is being carried out.
So we have to wait & see.
There are AC, people have fought to get death certificates changed when cause of death has been registered as Covid when it wasn’t the actual cause of death.
I agree I’ve just posted a similar response. Many admitted to hospital tested positive on routine admission swabs, because they were asymptomatic and had no cause to check themselves. Many died of other causes but because of this 28 day rule many are wrongly recorded as dying of covid, when it was other reasons, they just happened to have tested positive for covid. There is also the issue those who’ve been on ventilators for weeks who do die of covid aren’t recorded because more than 28 days have elapsed. The current system is so flawed
Hi AC
That’s very interesting. It’s clear there’s been some manipulation of figures then. I look forward to reading the full report.
One reason I take statistics with a pinch of salt. I’ve said previously that stats are open to manipulation by the person who produces the report and its numbers in order to fit their own agenda. Many people benefited from these manipulated statistics and I believe many of us know who they are.
Take care, T57
I don’t understand why you cannot see beyond your own good fortune!
Many people have suffered terribly from Covid 19
Good fortune!? I lost my job and house and am suicidal 😂😂
Such talk isn't funny. Anyway I thought you were only feeling that way when taken off Humira. Are you still now you're back on it? If so, please do seek help.
Yeah back on it but it doesn’t work like it used to since the switch back. Apologies if I am overly morbid! I also take etoricoxib and pregabelin now and have severe back pain most days from work. Once the pain gets to a certain level I get a bit weird tbh. I don’t think it will ever get better and only worse tbh
I find your comment incredibly ignorant..what is fine for you may not be fine for someone else. I am glad you coped with it well but please bear in mind..this is a forum for everyone and some members may still have very genuine concerns and apprehensions about returning to normal..we should respect that.
I'd take it with a pinch of salt 3LB. Anyone who believes “age should have a limit of between 40-50 and that should be the end of it” has a weird sense of humour, which has been admitted by the way. Someone who retires to his bed at the drop of a hat too, if Covid “ain't so bad”. Being pretty sure had coronavirus, yet went into work “coughing & spluttering”, “so let's see how contagious this garbage really is”. Did this so he'd be sent home & get full pay not SSP. Sorry but his views are polar opposite of mine & I would dare say the majority here. I just hope he's not passing on his views & added to what is believed to be the overpopulation of the world.
If this is removed then so be it but I think it had to be said in defence of anyone who has either has been very poorly with Covid or knows someone who has, or even lost someone.
I rose to the bait I am afraid and posts like these will always bring the baiting out. I hope Trace has taken some comfort from the sensible comments she has had, we're all feeling a little anxious (well some) and I fully agree we have to get to back to some kind of normality of course..but for some it's not that easy and we should show some empathy..or maybe I am too naive to expect that.
Definitely overpopulated! I don’t take a vaccine in the hope it mutates into something brutal whenever I have it.
Having the vaccine or not is a personal choice, even if it's not mine. I obviously don’t have your foresight & don't know if everyone will catch it. All I know is I’m fully vaccinated & not had Covid, you aren't & had it 3 times. That may be bad luck or some other reason. I just hope if you have it again it doesn’t knock the stuffing out of you, although it sounds as though you're wishing it to, if I understand you correctly. So you have added to the overpopulated world? Hmmm. 🤔
Bashing any of the elected leaders of the other 3 Nations making up the UK is perhaps not correct too?
Nicola Sturgeon has taken a fair old bashing on this site, rules for one are rules for all.
I didn't mean your reply today Ajay I was referring to previous replies throughout the pandemic about Scottish and Welsh democratically elected leaders, many have been very detrimental. I believe I should not write what I think about Boris on this site either.
Woooo hold up looks like professor Damien has made an appearance, I'll take it all back, I'm completely with you, it's all a conspiracy, it's nothing at all and no one has died or been poorly!! 😂😂 🤡🤡🤡
To mask or not to mask?Reading the responses here on this reminds me of a young man who lives nearby. I know nothing of him at all but suspect he has worries. In all seasons he is to be seen clad in what looks like a silver rubber diving suit, full length with gloves, knees high boots and big brimmed hat. He’s protecting himself from his fears whatever they be, alien abduction perhaps? Who knows but he goes out everyday in his protective gear and faces his fears and the world
I totally agree with you
I think everyone has to make their own choices, I am not vaccinated & gone to work the whole pandemic where we never wore masks as it’s manual environment yet I’ve never had Covid 🤷♂️
All sides have had their opportunity to voice their opinion on this matter so NRAS will now turn off replies. Please resist the temptation to start it again.
