Imraldi: Evening everyone, quick question hoping... - NRAS
Imraldi
Lots of us find injecting biologics painful to begin with.
I was given some very good tips. First let it warm up . Never inject from the fridge . I pop it under my armpit for 15 mins to warm up. I preferred to inject in my stomach less painful. A good tight pinch skin taught then inject. Others might have some more tips.
Hi Ninnin
As J. says I find it easier to leave out at room temp, and inject in my stomach/side-ish area, alternating sides each time.
Yes sometimes I've ended up with a bit of bruising. Mine's has stiff cellophane wrapping around the button area which was a bother so I now cut that off. It was sore at first, ok now. Good luck. 🌠
I find it less painful by warming it to body temperature first.
The advice I was given was to really stretch the skin taunt (& to warm to room temp before injecting). I‘ve done 3 now and it has been fine with not much stinging and no local reactions. I have to say I‘m still so scared of them I really really pull the skin taunt and push the pen down so hard and count to about 100 🤣 🤣 But it hasn’t really be painful
Hi I find injecting it after a hot bath good luck x
Hi, I found Imraldi incredibly painful and spoke to the biologics pharmacist at the hospital about it. She explained that it’s something to do with citrate in it which causes the searing pain upon injection in some people. I never had that with Humira but that is citrate free which would make sense. The pharmacist changed me to another brand of Adalimumab called Amgevita which is also citrate free and I’m now injecting pain free again. It might be worth asking your Rheumatology team if you can change brands. Good luck 😊
