That's good news! And I'm sure others will be interested to know it's possible for RA sufferers so thank you for posting.

I took life cover with Scottish widows a few months ago, I had a medical and bloods taken at home. The process was fast and the payments are not excessive x

Yes!! I expected to be paying a high monthly cost, but it was only Ā£23. I thought that was really reasonable.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try. Got turned down by a couple and gave up recently.

Oh thatā€™s very interesting I was refused earlier this year when we moved as GP report was done for Legal and General. My husband who is a year older than me but doesnā€™t have RA or a severely compromised immune system had no problems at all. But me sadly computer said no. Might look into Scottish Widows thanks for the tip.

I went through a broker called ā€˜the insurance surgeryā€™ and it was really quick and easy. I was surprised I didnā€™t need a report from the GP as vitality had asked for one. The report from my GP was, I thought, quite positive too, so really confused as to why I was refused serious illness cover. It didnā€™t really say anything. Good luck!

Yeah I found the GP report was fair and didnā€™t say anything too major or so I thought. It did mention the cancer I had 21 years ago but thatā€™s never been an issue and hasnā€™t recurred so perhaps it was that ? 9/10 I think the staff that see these reports arenā€™t medically trained so have no idea what theyā€™re looking at. My hubby had cancer 5 years ago though and they said yea to him ? I dunno ā€˜lotteryā€™ ?? We went through a broker too so canā€™t understand it. I did expect to perhaps pay more than my husband but Iā€™m retired and heā€™s still working so donā€™t know if itā€™s that ? Anyway passed worrying about it but will definitely look into Scottish widows.

If you are not 100% certain what you need from life insurance do use a specialist broker.Sadly there are many people who pay premiums for yearsā€¦.& then when they expect it to pay outā€¦.they find out their policy was not what they needed.

It really is a policy to take great care with.

Definitely wouldnā€™t rush into anything I wasnā€™t 100% certain of. It was only to cover the mortgage should I pop my cloggs but to be honest itā€™s only a small amount in the grand scheme of things and my hubby would be able to cover it himself if the worst should happen. More important to have him covered than me anyway. But I would definitely do my homework. Thanks for the warning though.

Please look at the small print on any of these policies. Make sure that it doesn't exclude pre-existing conditions. There have been so many reports of people thinking that they are covered only to find when they claim that something was recorded in their GP records that made it possible for the company to reject the claim.

Yes, definitely. Iā€™m lucky - Mine does include pre-existing conditions. I was asked lots of questions by the broker - so it was quite thorough. Hopefully I wonā€™t had a need to claim šŸ¤žšŸ»
