Do I need to stay away from my granddaughter when she has her chickenpox injections. I have had chickenpox and shingles?

Chickenpox vaccine
I think a child is only infectious if they then come out in a chicken pox rash, which some do. If the vac has not yet been given could her parent ask the nurse/Dr to make sure?
Please ask your rheumatology team for clarification but I was told when my son had chickenpox that as long as I was sure I had had chickenpox as I child (which I was!) I didn’t need to worry. I assume it would be the same for a vaccinated child but as I said please check with your team as they know your own situation, what meds you are taking etc.
Thanks for your replies. After reading that we should avoid children who have received the nasal spray flu vaccine because it is live I started to worry about the chickenpox vaccine as I understand that is also live.
Hi I work in a special needs school and was advised by my RA nurse to not go in on the day any nasal vaccines were being given
Just looked it up and as I thought they are infectious from two days before the rash appears and until all the spots have crusted over. Horrible thing to catch.
