It’s horrible reading about how much stress so many of us have gone through trying to get this third jab, but it does seem as though, agonisingly, many of us are getting there.
What I wanted to ask you all was whether there is any strong data out there that we can feel safe (or at least as safe as an “average” double jabbed person can feel)?
I am sure I am not alone in feeling as though I’m living in a different world from most around me: who socialise, eat in restaurants, enjoy shopping etc. Personally I feel pretty enraged by the behaviour of many around me, but maybe that’s normal if you can actually trust your vaccine???
I know there are many of you out there with a scientific background or who have your ear to the ground in terms of research, and would LOVE some good news!! 😂

I’m on 15mg Mxt and I’m not considered to be very immune suppressed. I have never shielded but I’ve been relatively careful. My immune system seems to function quite well. I rarely get colds, in fact fewer colds now than before RA , and although I do take high doses of NSAIDS for pain I remain quite well. I’ll definitely have the third dose when it’s offered . I have just been to France on holiday. Masks are worn inside and in order to eat and drink, even outside, you have to show your Pass Sanitaire proving you have had 2 vaccines. I felt safe.
Hi downtimeI’m going to Lanzarote at the end of the month and just wondered if you had any problem with your skin and the sun as you take MTX? I’ve read you can get bad skin reactions so am a bit worried about it.
Hi Haz. Mxt does seem to make the skin more sensitive to sun, especially in places where you might have been sunburnt previously. I have to wear a strong sunscreen these days. I still get a bit of a tan but I have fair skin and history of a melanoma so I don’t take any chances. Enjoy your holiday and take care .
With Mtx it’s softly,softly….. try it & see.I was on 25mg for 7 years & had no problems at all in the sun….but then I had no problems before I took it. But if you couldn’t sit in the sun & tan before Mtx….you probably won’t be any different when you take it…so just take care.
When I was on it I found I felt like my skin was burning whenever the Sun got on it. Upside was I got very tanned with multiple applications of Factor 50 🤣. Def not my usual look!!
I use factor 50 ( there are some quite nice ones around now ) long sleeved tops and a hat! I sometimes look quite eccentric , but rather that than burning which I do quite easily now
I feel safe, but like Downtime have never shielded as only on MTX and Enbrel with no other comorbidities and under 65.
I am not reckless, but am living normally now (with masks and handwashing…). I know I have some antibodies so feel that I have the best protection that is currently available having had 3 doses.
Look at the posts a day or so back with links to the Octave study for latest research.
Feel the same ! Due my third jab Thursday, only getting because they are doing the third jab anyway! As the Doctor said on the NRAS Facebook video the third is like everyone's 2nd dose and we need the fourth 6 months time that will be a joke trying to get that at my GPs, Zika feel thexsamexare we safe after third or should we wait for 4th. ?
yup just had my 3rd jab, called to go to local hospital where they gave me pfizer this time after 2 AZ jabs last feb and march, but am puzzled as to why they said next dose wd be march. I was given the AZ jabs 4weeks apart because i'm on Truxima [RTX biosimilar] which needs the 4 wkly gap. Anyone else in a similar position?? Take care, all xx
Had my 3rd jab 2 weeks ago. I’ve been back in the office (2 days a week) since June after initially shielding. Life goes on, we have to get back to normal (or as close to it as possible). I’m careful - hand washing, sanitiser, mask wearing, keeping my distance etc but it feels ok. Had a wonderful get together with my brothers at the weekend - we haven’t all been together for 2 years - and I’m not going to stay indoors and miss events like that. Just be sensible and stay safe x
