Is it Age, RA or meds?

It seems to have been years since I last had a cold. This one hit me quite hard, it has been rubbish. I wonder why, maybe it is a combination of all of the above... Whatever the cause, I think I would prefer to avoid them in future.

RA is behaving itself for the most part, thanks to the Tocilizumab. Still get pain, I can still overdo it, but gosh it has made such a massive difference to my life. The past 7 months have been so much better than I could have hoped for back in January. I have been cautiously enjoying spending a little time with friends and family. I also have managed to finish my house refurb and play golf. All pretty amazing because at the beginning of this year, I seriously doubted that I could continue to play golf and was considering moving to a smaller, one level home.

I am counting my blessings... Very grateful for the RA team in Aberdeen who look after me. Glad of the support found here and the breadth of information and knowledge that is shared.

Go gently

Thats really great news that Tocilizumab is helping you so much, sometimes its easy to think nothing would ever ease this pain. 👍

Even before arthritis some colds were better than others for me, they are such a waste of time aren't they !

Hope this ones goes soon and you can crack on feeling better x

Glad to hear the RA is so much better now and that you can get on with your life to a certain extent, long may it continue for you. Colds really drag you down don't they, hope it's soon gone. x

I think that the fact that it's been so long since you had one makes it likely that it will hit you that much harder; everyone has been exposed to bugs so much less that their immune systems will struggle - and that's without our personal extra challenges re RA. Take it easy, treat yourself to some nice food and drink and veg out with some entertaining TV or a good book. Hope you feel better soon 💐

Sometimes it is not until we feel unwell again for whatever reason, that we realise the positive impact our meds have on us. I hope your cold resolves soon.

A friend of mine has a cold, has no cough, no temperature, has just had a positive pcr test.

I had my ONS research pcr on Monday and I’m negative, got a full blown cold virus though, real nuisance and have felt quite rough. It’s getting better at last, but I’m on day 10!

Everyone I know who has had a cold over the summer - non RA people mainly - have said they are floored by it and are putting it down to having been shut up and wearing masks for so long that immunity is dodgy! Doesn't bode well for us with compromised immune systems 😏 Hope you're able to take some time to chill and that you're feeling better soon! xx
