I don’t think I’ve posted here before so forgive me if I’ve posted in the wrong place.
I have rheumatoid arthritis diagnosed almost 2 years ago but currently unmediated.
Is it very common to sometimes just be “unwell “?
For the past week I’ve had a constant headache and now swollen glands and generally aches all over for no obvious reason (I’ve taken covid lft and all negative) I read somewhere this is sometimes symptoms of RA but I just wanted to be sure. Nothing seems to take away the pain for more than a short while.

Although flu like symptoms can sometimes be caused by RA the swollen glands indicate an infection. I suggest you seek medical advice. Also as you are not having any medical treatment for your RA you risk damaging your joints permanently. Please see your GP as soon as you can.
Thank you Lolabridge. I was previously offered something but decided to wait until I was vaccinated as the doctor said taking the drugs would make me vulnerable. I am vaccinated now and have an appointment in October with a consultant.
Glad you had your jabs. Yes feeling like you’ve been run over does sound unfortunately like active RA. Bad luck. Hope your consultant can get you on a suitable treatment quickly.
I use to get flu like symptoms and swollen glands around my kneck and below my ears and shivery cold spells daily. I hope you can be seen to soon as its not nice feeling like that. Know what you mean by feeling like you've been run over. I couldn't get out of bed and struggled to move around the house. Once you start you meds you'll feel better 🤞
You can feel very unwell with RA but I have never heard of swollen glands caused by it. This is some kind of infection that probably needs antibiotics. Call your GP for an urgent consultation. Good luck.
Yes I get the tupe of symptoms you have described, it's not nice, I hope your consultant is able to sort you out quickly, could you see if they have a cancellation? Take it easy. X
I quite often have similar symptoms (though not usually swollen glands) and mostly put them down to RA or side effects from the meds. I don’t know if this is correct but I do know that RA is systemic and can therefore affect your whole body and also that fatigue (which I get often!) can produce many different effects. Ironically, since testing positive for COVID 19 a week ago, I have had very few if any ‘extra’ symptoms! That said, it’s always a good idea to consult a doctor if you feel unwell for more than a week or so.
For me, feeling fatigued and generally unwell are symptoms of my RA, as well as pain. Now that you are vaccinated, I hope you can get started on a treatment that helps
Hi Lola80, why aren't you on meds at the moment? Pain and tiredness is common with RA but remember there are other causes. I was diagnosed with anemia at the same time as my RA, given a course of tablets then advised to increase my iron levels by food and drink. With pain relief it's trial and error. Ring the hospital and ask for advice that's what they are there for. Take care, look after yourself.🐕🦄
