If you are Double vaccinated you can still test positive

I hope everyone is as well as can be.

I just wanted to say I do not understand why some people think because they have been double vaccinated, they are safe. My dear friend has now had to isolate because the chap she works for thought he can’t get COVID because he was double vaccinated.

He went into the office - had a terrible cough - now the entire team who sadly all flew out on their annual holidays have been told he tested positive!!! He feels utterly guilty as well as feeling very unwell in himself.

His belief he thought he was protected due to the two vaccines. It is a message that needs to be made clear - even my work colleagues have this I am safe attitude - you can still catch and spread this virus even if you are double vaccinated - it just seems some people who are vaccinated are under the guise they are invincible to catching covid and distributing it.

Be careful and be vigilant all - protect yourselves.👍

I know and many people are coming to light who have been double vaccinated and have got the virus. The medics/JVT and Prof Whitty said it could happen but hopefully those people who have got it after their vaccines will be protected so they don’t get severe symptoms. I guess the guy was sure he was fine that he didn’t think to test when he got a cough. Many people think double vaccines mean everything is ok and back to normal. No, sadly as you say it’s the “distributing” of it they don’t understand. 😖 Hope you are well, Hessie. x

Very well hope you are too. ☺️

He is a lovely man, and I pray he is okay, to be honest. He thinks he caught it from the cup final he attended with his son ⚽! I believe 60,000 people were at Wembley...

Have a lovely weekend. 🔆

I have received both of my vaccines and got a positive result only this morning. I took a high temperature yesterday and bad joint/muscle pain so decided to get tested just in case and unfortunately it was positive. I have been very careful and only leave the house to go to work but somehow I've caught it? So yes you definitely can still catch it even if your double vaccinated.

That's bad luck. I hope you aren't suffering too much.

I am sorry to hear that - I wish you a swift recovery, Pinkypie - I feel some people lost confidence with the ex health minister scandal, major sports events and now, with more opening it is inevitable. Rest up and take care. ⛅

It beggars belief that some people are so uninformed/stupid to think they can't catch covid having been vaccinated. I think that generally many of these people just don't want to know. It's very worrying and depressing for the rest of us, especially if we are CEV.

It is very odd - people of high rank who you presume would know better - I am beginning now to believe the saying ‘wealth before health’ ☹️ - we have to be so careful and don't get complacent at all. You take care.

I certainly am. Thank you. x

Well no vaccines are 100% so that will be expected. I hope they all get better soon x

The problem here is not that it isn't clear but that some people only read what they want to read, some people don't read anything and some people don't understand even if they have read it. Sadly, this is the case in all walks of life. One thing for sure is that it is perfectly clear. It must have been said on the news, hundreds if not thousands of times.

My niece and her husband have it.He was anti vaccine so he hadn’t had his vaccines.Think he caught it and brought it home from his job.She stated with blocked head ,then taste n smell went.He then admitted he had felt very sweaty day before and taste gone.He is quite poorly. She has an autistic who lives with them who only last week went back to school after 10 days after a class mate tested positive so now he is off again. My neice’s other sister is livid about it.Now this has changed his mind and will have the vaccine.

My daughter worked as a nursing student on a Covid ward for 44 weeks unvaccinated against the Alpha variant. She was double vaccinated by March.

At the end of June she went to an outdoor bbq, all 30 including her tested positive with the Delta variant.

She was19, fit, healthy but still symptomatic, so everyone should take heed.

Thanks for sharing your story - I do hope she is okay now. Do you know if she would now have even more antibodies being double vaccinated and frustratingly having caught it, to be super protected?

Being vigilant to the facts is key. Have a good day.

Thank you, yes she is fine now. The vaccine helps stop serious illness and hospitalisation and ultimately reduces deaths. As I understand it she will now have antibodies against the delta variant. As well as those from her vaccination.

Hope she alright now and my husband’s niece was the same .. a nurse (on a mental health ward.)

I think if I was young reading this , I would not even consider getting the vaccine. If it is ineffective then it’s been a huge waste of money and we’re all going to have to live with this thing till it works it’s way through us to herd immunity levels . Sooooo depressing 🤦‍♀️

Hi LinaM - I believe it is split. A lot of youngsters want to be going out, going abroad so have the vaccine - we just need to be mindful that nothing is 100%. Hang onto hope that things shall get better 👍

Maybe the vaccine didn't stop her catching it, which we all know but it will probably have stopped serious consequences?

Hessie5 profile image
Hessie5 in reply to GinnyE

I would be more worried about her friends who did not have the vaccine.

It is hugely effective, up to 85% , you may still catch the virus in that 15 per cent but most likely the important thing, get it less severe or not hospitalised or not die of it like thousands have so far.

Mr Javid 😑

They can still catch it double vaccinated but it reduces the chance significantly of hospitalisation and death.

My boss told me not to isolate even though I have a cough etc. Fortunately I tested negative and its regular bugs. But I think he is of the same opinion. It beggers belief.

allanah profile image

Is that not against the law? Or is isolating not mandatory?

I believe he can be fined up to £10k. Hope he gets caught out. 😡
