Good morning Everybody! I hope the sun is shining wherever you are! My Rheumatologist has started the screening process for me to begin biologic treatment. I have a further phone appt this afternoon to finalise the process. Yesterday I had a call from my Rheumy nurse asking if I have any metal work in my body - I have a titanium disc and metal fusion cage in my spine. Does anyone know if this will exclude me from being able to have the new treatment? Has anyone else on here got metal implants and is on a biologic?

Biologic screening
Good morning to you too, a lovely cheerful start to your post and yes it is wonderful to see the sun as it has such good-healing properties . Very good luck with your treatment this afternoon . Take care. 😊
Yes in my foot it wasn't even mentioned to me. I take Benapali. xx
Yes warm here but cloudy. I haven't got any but it was never mentioned to me at any of the consultations .I'm on Cimzia .Wishing you well, and I hope it works for you. I've been on Cimzia for 7 yrs and it's given me my life back.
It might be that they sometimes include an MRI with the screening, and needed to ask you first before deciding. I have never heard. Of anyone being refused treatment because of metal bits!
It was probably just to decide which- if any -scans your rheumy will prescribe.. …having any metal or a pacemaker mean some scans can’t ‘be performed or a specialist has be present at the scan.A friend of mine with a pacemaker turned up recently for an MRI….& he couldn’t have it that day, because the right person wasn’t there to deal with it.
I think it’s probably more to do with the possibility of an MRI scan. MRI scans are not usually part of biologic screening but they could be useful as evidence to secure funding, especially if your DAS score is borderline.
I am on a biologic and have a considerable amount of titanium in my foot. Although the titanium was added after I started biologics.
