Getting PCR TEST

Hi folks ,I’m having surgery on the 31 of this month the hospital requires me to have the test 72 hrs before surgery. They have told me I can get it done locally to save 200+ miles round trip, the only people that seem to do it are Boots but trying to book a appointment online is proving impossible.I’m having private treatment as the waiting lists are horrendous unless it’s a emergency .Any advice please.

Regards Mike

I don’t know the answer just wanted to wish you luck. Love the picture reminds me of where we used to spend a lot time in Scotland.

Yes online booking I find is hit and miss . I usually have more luck by ringing the store . Good luck.. isn’t Jack lovely xx

If you mean Boots say it’s only on line on the phone ……do try going in personally….that’s how I got the test done.

I can't help I'm afraid - just wanted to say Jack's a beautiful dog and good luck with the surgery. 🤞

Have you tried going in to your local Branch of Boots & explaining your situation to the pharmacist? Alternatively speak to your rheumy nurse…hospitals have overflow locations to get the test before a procedure.

I recently got a drive through test before a hospital procedure ….in a large unit behind the hospital car park!

It was just two nurses & a table with the test kits…but it did the job!

Can you ask for a home test? The last twice I've done PCR tests at home after getting lost in an unfamiliar town.

Sorry old timer the hospital needs a certified PCR test.A home test would be easier for me.Regards Mike

Marlow NHS or private hospital???Surely they both should provide the test for you??

Hi summer they will but it’s a200 mile round trip to the private hospital and NHS won’t do one for private patients .

Can they lost you a test?Next idea is get on nhs site for approval PCR tests providers, this is usually for holiday people, but thru may be able to courier or post one?

I believe some providers may offer a video link to observe you doing it?

If you are traveling to private hospital 200miles I assume you must live some where remote?
