Covid in our primary school where I work . 2 classes sent home several Teachers/ TAs isolating others isolating due to their own children testing positive.

Amazing how many parents and children went to London for the final none had tickets . One parent said it was like old times pubs rammed everyone hugging the atmosphere amazing. These parents left the children with their grandparents I wonder how many will catch covid . The nhs will be swamped and we will be back to square one .

I'm listening to the Westminster update just now... Boris has just been asked why is wearing a mask one of the few areas of public life where people are being asked , rather than told to... yet we tell people not to drop litter and fine them £100 s if they are caught doing so ? He dodged the question, giving more rhetoric

in reply toMmrr

True to form then . No lessons learnt .

Ps Good luck tomorrow will be thinking about you xx

You are really better off not reading about these selfish people.Concentrate on keeping yourself safe….we have passed through the worst of the Pandemic & we weren’t t vaccinated then.

Look on the bright side.

A friend of mine made us laugh the other evening when she said she was going to carry on wearing her mask and if anybody tried to hug her she would flatten them ….she is 5’ tall and weighs about six stone!!I hope only a little person tries to hug her….or she may well be the one who is flattened!

I hope she’s like Mighty Mouse and I’d be the same although I’m 5ft 5ins and have very strong biceps!

Dumb is the word .. do they think Covid had a day off on Sunday??

in reply toNeonkittie17

I did ask the parent if it was a wise thing to do. His reply was he and his wife had to go as it was a once in a lifetime experience 🤷‍♀️

I get that but really????? Are people not clued on to whats going on around them? We have a teacher in reception test positive and her son too in year 3. Had five teachers off in the last few weeks due to testing positive and yet kids are not super spreaders... hmmmm

Exactly my thoughts. These same people balk at the idea of being told to live by restrictions/wear masks as they don’t like to be told what to do by the government but then as soon as the restrictions are lifted they will say .. but the government said it was ok .. can’t win.

Totally agree with you my daughter and husband went in a packed pub I refused to have my granddaughter as she is self isolating as someone at school had got Covid but selfish but my health comes first I’m afraid probably upset some but hey I don’t want it . So my daughter had to stay at home in the end

happytulip profile image
happytulip in reply toSoundofmusic52

Not selfish at all. You have to look after you.

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply toSoundofmusic52

No .. keep protecting yourself as there will be many people trying to cajole vulnerable people into doing things that suit them and not you/us. x

Oh how times have changed when we first heard regarding lives lost to Covid as being 'Each life lost is one too many' to now talk of quoting of figures approximating a further 15 to 20,000 deaths which is as the government quoted the other day is 'about the same as flu'...gone were the 'personal' words now lives lost just appear to be 'numbers and statistics.' Well last night I did not join the ranks in a house, party, BBQ, pub, stadium watching the match. My goal was that I went out for a drive on our empty roads, parked up watched nature at it's best and then 'celebrated' with a favourite of mine from the (empty of customers) chippy. I got my 'freedom' in that all too brief time and a lovely much missed chippy supper to go...so for me win win! I do worry that we are in for some stormy times ahead and know we all have to do what we can to keep as safe as we can, as we have come so far but I fear that next week for some who have either never adhered to, or will become lax or purely get 'demob happy' and return to old habits, practice poor hygiene and simply behave like covid is no more.

Thank you it did as I don't get out much now and I love being out in nature.

Sheila_G profile image
Sheila_G in reply toPippy25

I am the same as you. I try to think of ways to keep my spirits up because I have had some very down times thinking about this situation. I wonder, if we keep a very low profile during the next couple of months, will all the people who are going out and about as though nothing was different, catch this awful virus and through their antibodies help to form the herd immunity that we hear of, so that the numbers will start to drop.......or am I deluding myself?

marie66 profile image
marie66 in reply toSheila_G

We can but hope!

Sheila_G profile image
Sheila_G in reply tomarie66

We must.

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply toSheila_G

No it isn’t deluding yourself it’s being very hopeful and I hope that too. It is what the government want .. natural immunity .. and to do it as they say before the autumn and when flu is starting. (They also want as many people out and about for the rest of the summer especially spending money and drinking and eating out.) What you are describing and what we all hope for with more people being vaccinated and for the virus to not have as many to affect, is what the government are now calling natural immunity. They are careful not to call it herd immunity as Boris has mainly denied the government wanted/want to do that.

I think as other have said in different threads on here is that if children are the main spreaders then if they aren’t vaccinated then that is a major issue, but understand why they can’t just be rushed off to get vaccinated. I feel they will be encouraged to do so or their parents but not for some time yet.

I agree that many people will return to unhygienic ways ... I know someone who is a courier and he said yes he washes his hands .. twice a day. When he gets up and when he goes to bed. Shocking really. He’s one of millions, sadly. The next 7 weeks/rest of summer will be the time to watch and see how cases are rising with people going on holiday and moving the virus around. Vast numbers of people in Europe and all over unvaccinated.

I do believe as others have said that those less informed and less bothered will think it’s ok to do anything now. The .. with caution .. element of the governmental message will be lost and freedom is all that was heard although he’s not been saying freedom so much lately as it more than suggests that all is tickety boo. It isn’t.

I take every moment such as Sunday and savour it because I feel as of next week I will like you put it so well I will be keeping a low profile and come autumn may withdraw and go into some sort of shielding till the Spring just to do what I think is best for me. I will observe and make my own decisions as the weeks and months pass. Apart from a few dear friends I have had no support throughout this as others have been in similar positions so I have to somehow take control of my situation as no one is going to do it for me and while I feel a bit of an outcast living on the edge of society, moving in different times and places to others for the meantime. I have to like your good self find ways to boost my spirits and take precious little moments to allow myself to feel human again. Take care Sheila and do all you can to stay as well as you can and if anyone wants to walk a mile in our shoes let them. Warm wishes xx

Thank you. One more thing I have decided is that any risk I take will be for my family. I can't bear to be away from them any longer and they are testing themselves regularly so as long as I can be with them, that is all I ask. Take care. xx

While I wished England the best, I've never been interested in football so thought I would seize the moment to get out in the locality and feel free, look at nature and enjoy living in that moment. It was worth every minute xx

I am a football fan but not a football fan fan. 😑🤨 My life is on hold too mostly until I can get my B cells back and repeat my vaccines after October hopefully. I’ve been told I’m back to square one re vaccines. I have shielded mostly since early March 2020 when I had an op and then the pandemic took off whilst I was inside and recovering. I’m very tolerant and patient but this is getting to be ... awful, if I’m honest.

Yep , very nervous ... so I'm possibly off to Portugal. They are open unless they don't let us in with this current rise in numbers but self distancing and wearing masks. We can sit in the sun outside our van with our in food and drink as I think I'll be terrified here.

Very disappointed to see people ,s non serious behaviour even they have experienced or seen how cruel this pandemic is .One thought is coming I wish they could realise the pain of those who have been affected with it and show some responsible behaviour .Still get very emotional when ever hear the news of some one caught by covied or unable to receive proper treatment of any kind of treatment either its pre existing illness or newly one

I’m on Ritax and have been so careful this whole time. My son came back from uni last week and passed covid our way. I tested positive on Tuesday and had to go to A&E yesterday morning due to low oxygen levels. Have been admitted and on dexamethasone and antibiotics for a chest infection and oxygen.Think a corner has been turned tonight so fingers crossed can be home soon.

Thank goodness your on the mend . Unfortunately I fear we won’t see the last of covid for some time . I’m having my bathroom refitted this week. Plumber told me his an antivaxer Doesn’t believe it’s as bad as it’s made out by the media. Nurses etc chose to do this as a job They are well paid and feels they are making a mountain out of a mole hill. I’m staying away from him and he’s getting no cuppas from me .
