Benepali gave me back a bit of my life, but it doesn't half sting. Take ur pen out of the fridge the day before or at least a couple of hours before you want to inject, I also warm mine up under my arm for a few minutes Do not use another one as you won't know how much you injected. There's no easy way of doing it, try not to hesitate just push till it clicks then hold your breath, the sting only lasts a second or two. I inject into my stomach as I find it less painful than my thigh. Some weeks I don't feel it at all and others ...
😬. You'll soon get use to it 👍
I take mine out in the morning and inject in the evening, it reduces alot of the sting. In the PIL it tells you to let it come up to room temperature by leaving it out of the fridge and not warm it up any other way. Are you injecting in your tummy as that was much easier for me. You’ll get used to it, it’s only 20 secs or so and the benefits are worth it 🤗
Thankyou kitty
I inject Cimzia and I was told to leave it out of the fridge for 30 mins to let it get up to room temperature before injecting. Like others I find it better to inject into my stomach as it is more comfortable. My Cimzia is still an old fashioned plunge style syringe- I don't think it's available in pen form🙄. I was very apprehensive about injecting the first few times but it's now second nature to me.
I used to use benepali injections, I felt the same the first few weeks and I would dread injection day. But now I am on tablet medication every day, and I often forget to take them 🙈 I actually prefer using injections as it was over quickly and once a week (I didn't think that at the time) Like someone else suggested, I used to take it out of the fridge a few hours before and place under my arm. I hope you feel better about them the more you use them, good luck x
The benepali pen isn't a good design, would be much better having a press button rather than having to press the whole thing in🙄
Like others have mentioned its hurts less in the stomach, I have to grab a chunk and press in or or pen dissappear into stomach like Homer Simpson 😅
Hope its the one for you x
It’s been a great drug for me along with methotrexate which I inject once week. The first time I injected Benepali I injected into my thigh as instructed. It was sooooo painful. I couldn’t imagine torturing myself like that every week! Now take Benepali out of the fridge the day before my injection is due and inject into my flabby abdomen. No pain whatsoever and RA well controlled.
The only negative is the beautiful packaging of Benepali— it is so difficult to open but a small price to pay for it’s incredible benefits 😊
I agree! Stings like crazy! Only lasts a few seconds and I have found the benefit from this to my health is well worth it..stick with it. Just brace yourself and it's over before you know it! Take care.
Hi I agree with what the other people are saying. I have been on benepali for a few years now and inject into my stomach it is a bit of a shock when it is injected but the benefit you get from it will make up for it good luck!
I take my injection out the day before, I also inject my stomach as it stings less. This drug has given me back my life so a small sting once a week is worth it. You could try icing the area before you inject.
I find the same issue with Benepali. I take it out of the fridge a couple of hours early (when I can get it out of the box, ha ha!) and bring it up to body temperature for half an hour.
It does sting, actually it hurts, but it’s momentary and the benefits are wonderful.
I inject Methotrexate too. I’ve been doing MXT in my tummy and Benny in my leg - I think I’ll try swapping sites.
Stick with it, the benefits are immense.
I always find a chocolate treat afterwards helps 😉x
Same as everyone else really. Inject into your tummy as far less painful than thigh. Sometimes it stings, sometimes not. I say a little chant ‘this is helping, this is helping’ 😂😂. Benefits far outweigh the 10 seconds of stinging. It was probably a shock for you the first time too.
Persevere. It changed my life thankfully.
I inject benepali too and agree about the sting! I use my abdomen as it’s less painful and take it out at least an hour or two before I want to use it. It has worked for me really well for quite a while but lately it’s just started to fail me a bit. I have a review in July so will see what the team say.x
I inject myself on methotrexate Mondays...no problem, I dread benapali tuesdays. My husband has to inject me, as I found it really hard to hold it in long enough. I may get him to try it in my stomach next time. I'm glad it's not just me it hurts like mad with, I do sometimes have tears wondering if the pain is worth it. 😢
If you're using the pen yes it did hurt and I asked to change to injection. Painless and much easier. Its more controllable and doesn't bang it just slides in painlessly, and the needle is tiny, Easier on my hands and even my husband found the pen hard to push down and he is fit and healthy. Give the RA team a ring and ask for the injections.
Not sure about the benepali I've not been on it but I did spray adiludamab everywhere cos it hurt so bad. I've seen people on instagram inject themselves in the tummy rather than legs. Apparently hurts less. Sorry can't be more help
I have been injecting for over three years now and it has transformed my life. It only stings occasionally if I jab the wrong spot. I was advised to take it out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before use which has worked very well.
Inject into the tummy. Pinch hard and wiggle your toes ( yes wiggle your toes ). It works, honest 🥺
I was self injecting for 12 years first with Humira, then Enbrel and then Benepali. I agree with all those saying it’s best to inject into the stomach after letting the fluid warm up a little first. I found the transfer to Benepali from Enbrel did not suit me and had to switch to Rituximab infusions but everyone is different. Hopefully a change of technique will help you to adjust.
