I’m in hospital with Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome. Severe radiating pain from the bursa on my left hip. Can’t sit, stand, or walk without help.

Anyone else experienced this. It can be caused by RA but apparently also athletes and marathon runners get it (I’ve cancelled the London and New York this year!)

Oh sounds awful. Don't knew anything about it but sympathise with you. Let us hope it spontaneously disappears like my neighbour's hip bursitis did. Hope you can get some pain relief at least.

I was diagnosed with it a while ago but nowhere near as bad as you as I didn't need to be hospitalised. I do hope they're looking after you well Harry & the pain has subsided at least a little.

The causes given you of GTPS made me smile & reminded me that when I had a spontaneous pneumothorax I was told it usually happens in thin, tall, athletic young men, only one of which I could have be considered as!

I had this but not as bad as you was put on antibiotics on first sign of symptoms . ) Very lucky )

Was told caused by RD still get niggles when fibromyalgia plays up . I really feel for you so painful x

Feel better soon. Hydrocortisone shot worth a mention? I know someone who has one for the same problem. A lady runner. I know not all hospitals are doing them/giving steroids in any way shape or form at the mo. Hope you get the right measure of rest and physical activity/physio recommended exercise to get back on track ... or road.

Ouch. Poor you, must be awful for you. I’ve had this for years, spookily had another ultrasound last week as having problems again. More physio for me and a steroid injection if it doesn’t help. What has helped, sleeping wise, was buying a topper for the bed. It has made so much difference. We went for quite a thick one, which has reducing the pressure on my hips. I can’t sleep on my back, so this is a godsend. Hope they get you sorted soon 🤞
