Fibromyalgia- confirmed

โ€ข28 Replies

I had a brilliant appointment this morning and f2f too .. canโ€™t beat a f2f.

I presented my scroll ๐Ÿ“œ of ailments . Confirmation of fibromyalgia really explained things well. Some symptoms need further exploration especially my nerves in my feet and other things so will see a neurologist. Physio booked for fibromyalgia symptoms also hand therapy due to tendon thickening. My heat problem needs investigation and I need hormones testing.. never been done even though Iโ€™m on hrt.

Not impressed with the gp ( I try avoid this gp but sometimes no option)he is going to write to her and explain that not everything comes under the umbrella of RA.. he made me chuckle . He said some gps need their hands held .

So my advice is please keep a diary no matter if you think your symptoms are RA it might not be . I presumed as did my gp.

Thanks all for you good wishes and help . X

Sounds like a really good appointment with some big steps forward. Now you can start treating those nasty fibro niggles and start to feel a bit better ๐Ÿฅณ Physio will be good. The neurologist might also give you some fibro tips if you ask.

Too right about the GP. Happens so often.

Last but not least, welcome to the RA and Fibro club! Membership badge in the post ๐Ÿ™‚ x

That is good to hear in respect of now you have some answers and as you say not everything can be attributed to RD and can feel like an excuse at times. Fingers crossed now that you have a way forward and things begin to improve. Take care xx

I know it's just a label but it's important, especially when you know something is very wrong but don't know what. I've been very lucky as it was clear cut from the start a positive RA test and then the positive pANCA. I really believe that helps enormously and from reading stuff on here may make it easier to treat as my experience it has been straightforward. x

Thank goodness you had a F2F and such a productive consultation but Iโ€™m sorry you now have another diagnosis to add to your list. At least you are being referred for further investigations now and hope you will get some treatment soon. Xx

Sorry youโ€™ve got other things added to your RA but glad theyโ€™ve been identified as now you can deal with them and move forwards. Sending gentle hugs. xx

Ah glad you got the diagnosis hun. Did you get to read him the whole scroll? Hehe! Do you have to have meds for the fibro?

โ€ข in reply toEnglishRose63

I did read the whole lot ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜I said at the beginning please donโ€™t interrupt let me finish ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m on amtripline ?? (Spelling) and referral to hand clinic/ physio and neurologist... and a letter to gp confirming not everything is RA ๐Ÿ˜œhe wants to see me in 4 weeks. Were you given anything? X

Haha I like that!Yep he's writing to my gp suggesting I come off duloxetine and start pregabalin, have a trial of acupuncture (don't know about that), referring me to mdt pain management, psychology-based management, vitD, tai chi etc etc. I had to laugh a bit and crossing my fingers that my gp will take notice ๐Ÿค”

Good luck . Canโ€™t wait to see what our GPS make of it .๐Ÿ˜

Hi there!

Wow! What a difference a f2f makes!๐Ÿ˜ณ

I'm so pleased you got to say everything you wanted to. Sorry it meant a confirmation of the Fibromyalgia diagnosis, but I'm so glad you've at least got some answers and a plan for the future. About time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

As for your GP - eek! Don't envy you dealing with that one! I'm sure the Rheumatologist's letter should give her(?) a much needed kick up the posterior!! (Not that I condone violence of course)!!๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†xx

Morning. Amitriptyline was prescribed to me ( I can spell it now after two years of attempts ๐Ÿ˜‚). It really helped me with sleeping more soundly which does โ€˜helpโ€™ with energy levels. Have put on weight though, so keep an eye out x

โ€ข in reply to

Thanks Iโ€™m a bit porky already ๐Ÿ˜ I do feel a good sleep will help . Took my first tablet last by.a better sleep hope it continues to improve x

Glad you have been able to make some progress J. At least you have a name to put on your symptoms. In my experience GPs don't seem to take any notice of what they are told and half the time don't listen. Sure there are some good ones but I haven't had a good GP for a long long time. Hope your GP listens this time. Xx

So sorry for such a late response to your post. So good that you had such a good f2f appointment. Really hoping that you donโ€™t have too long to wait for the tests/physio and appointments to see other consultants. x
