Off the Methotrexate 😊

A little while back I tried to come off Methotrexate after a few weeks I didn't feel to good so went back.

Then I decided I needed a different approach. I had put on some lockdown pounds so needed to address that.

Went on a intermittent Keto regime and I have to say with excellent results 😊.

No methotrexate and feel amazing no pain, swelling or fatigue.

Feel full of beans, lost weight and blobbyness.

I used to think sugar was the poison but obviously carbs are worse.

No going back.

That's great that its working for you and I hope it continues to do so.Just a word of caution from someone who has had RA for 25 years. Please ensure you keep going for your bloods and specialist appointments. You don't know what damage might be been done behind the scenes. I don't want to be negative. I'm just talking from personal experience and its something I wish I'd have known. X

Yes still having bloods and still on sulfasalazine and hydroxy.I'd halved the Mxt last year but it was causing probs with my immune system.

I had constant finger infections then I'd have to stop and take antibiotics which are harmful and I hate. So weeks off the Mxt anyway.

So good to come off. I haven't told the consultant yet but generally they just do tick boxes especially over the phone.

Thats cool. I always worry when people say they are stopping meds. I understand why people don't want to take them. Just always worries me. 😊

This is good to know! Are you still having regular blood checks for Sulfasalazine? I thought Sulfasalazine is similar to MTX, re liver etc. Do you have a low dose of Sulfasalzine?

Yes have my bloods every 2 months, normal so far? I have 1000mg twice a day.

Seems like a lot really? What do consider low dose?

Im not really intending to change the other meds for the time being.

Time and tests will tell. πŸ™‚

They do say sugar causes such a lot of inflammation and I do feel really twingy on my worst joints if I’ve had sweet things. Glad you have had such positive results and I can see you are still on your other RA meds so the combo of your therapies is working very well for you. πŸ’—

Thanks they are but there are plenty of great foods to eat. It's interesting how the history of our food has indrocinated how we eat.

Low fat is really bad for you also grains and we know about nightshades.

My husband has psoriasis and it is now the best it's been for years.

I have been watching Dr berg and DrKen Berry on YT really inspiring. I'm actually doing intermittent fasting and finding it quite easy too.

Good luck too

Thanks. I'm not a worryer. My physical state is good, no outward or inward symptoms.

I practice yoga every day (sometimes twice) but rest on Sunday.

I have an active job and sleep well. There is no information from the Dr's or Consultants on diet and nutrition which is the most basic thing that affects our health.

Consumerism has not helped lead a healthy life.

I am researching thoroughly.
