Pregablin: Hi has anyone been prescribed pregablin. My... - NRAS
Pregablin
Yes, I take pregabalin. Initially I was prescribed the brand name Lyrica as that at the time was the licensed one to treat neuropathic pain. I'm now just prescribed a generic. I take 150mg twice a day.
Like some other meds such as amitriptyline it's a multi use med. I know pregabalin can be prescribed for anxiety & seizures, in a similar way to amitriptyline, which is an antidepressant, being prescribed as a muscle relaxant & pain reliever among others.
I hope it helps you. It can take a little while to get used to but if you persevere you should find symptoms ease. I started on a low dose & built up to a therapeutic level. Equally you shouldn’t just stop it, you’d need a tapering plan.
Yes for Shingles pain and it worked well but it did make me sleepy for a while. Not a big problem though and I came off it slowly. I was very grateful for the pain relief.
Hello there
I was prescribed Lyrica (pregababin) by my rheumy when I had shingles 2 years ago (it was a side effect of Olumiant/baricitinib), He said it helped prevent long-term nerve pain. I have to admit I didn't take it more than once or twice because it made me feel extremely groggy the next morning. But I know people who tolerated it very well so don't let my experience put you off!
All the best and good luck with it,
Christine xx
I took it for nerve pain and nerve related issues stemming from a neuro problem. Burning pain can be related to that. Ultimately didn’t work for me, despite persisting through some pretty intense, initial side effects, but some people find it really helps.
I've taken pregabalin for 1 1/2 years. I have nerve pain from something called Arachnoiditis. I have do many ititses I don't know where my pain is coming from some days. I started at 50mg, as it made me sleepy. Now I take 100mg twice day , with out getting sleepy. And yes you need help tapering off it.
I am on it and i warn that the withdrawal is bad if you don't do it slowly and if you miss one dose you will know it. xxxx
Hi I take gabapentin for a really bad burning pain in my forearm, the consultant said it can be caused by inflammation pressing on a nerve. I started off on 100mg 3 x a day but am now taking 1500mg a day, although it's helped the burning hasn't completely gone away, I'm able to increase it again by another 300mg but I'm reluctant to do so
I was initially prescribed Pregabalin for my sciatica. Now I am prescribed it to help me sleep
Hi. I am on pregablin for sciatica.200mgs twice a day. This has helped the sharp pain that had been going down my leg, but the dose must be increased slowly. I have burning pain also in SI joint and all over right sacrum which the pregablin does nothing for.on Etoricoxib 90mgs which also does not work
