Psoriasis?

I have an RA diagnosis and never had Psoriasis before. However, everytime I've had a particularly stressful time, I've had what looks like small patches of it. First, itchy spots which then become raised and sting/burn then dry up. It goes after a few weeks. I've mentioned it to my consultant at my last visit, she just very matter of a factly said, if it is it, its treated the same. I'm just wondering if I have RA with Psoriasis? When looking at symptoms in the case of Psoriatic arthritis, it mentions having Psoriasis first, which I never had.

I'm interested in others experience.

Did you get an photos of the spots? Where were they located? Did anyone mention if they could be Shingles? However, it sounds like you have experienced this more than once. I do not have Psoriasis just RA but I am sure others with it will reply to you but a photo may help as an awful lot of conditions cause rashes.

Hi , I have PsA , no psoriasis prior to diagnosis but have a close family member who has . You don’t have to have psoriasis to have PsA.

Hi Kookymar, I developed psoriasis after my RA diagnosis. Not certain if you're on Adalimumab, but my psoriasis was thought to be related to the drug. When I discontinued the Adalimumab, the psoriasis eventually went away. My rheumatologist said that this was a 'paradoxical reaction' as Adalimumab is actually prescribed to treat psoriasis.

Thanks for your replies, on my neck this time. I had it before on my elbow and armpit?!I'm on Methotrexate. While is only patches and not wide spread I'm not too bothered by it.

I get stress eczema. It presents itself as small patches which I get at times of stress, unsurprisingly given the name. May or may not be the same but it looks very similar to your pic when I get a flare up. Just another thought.

I had psoriasis (never too bad and isolated to elbows and behind ears) before developing psoriatic arthritis 4 years ago.

In my case it didn’t create spots that were raised at all, was always there and always in the same places. There was also lots of flaky skin as a result of the overproduction of skin cells.

The rash became painful, like someone sticking pins in me, so had a GP phone consult and sent him photos. I have Shingles, so now on anti viral to lessen the symptoms.
