Has anyone achieved remission of autoimmune on methotrexate or other meds?

I have had RA for 10 years and been in remission for most of the time. Took about a year to get there after diagnosis.

I've been in remission since early 2013 since starting enbrel. My mtx is now down to 10 mg, been on that small dose for a year now. Had a telephone consultation last December and was told that I could if I wanted to come off mtx, consultant said it's the enbrel that's keeping me in remission. I would love to stop mtx but I know and the consultant told me this that mtx stops my body making antibodies against enbrel, it will make it work longer. I decided to stay on mtx.

Quite a few here have, though maybe we don't hear it often enough because, understandably, they're off doing their own thing. I'm seropositive & achieved medically induced remission on MTX after around 1 1/2 years, that was with DAS 44 as well. All hell broke loose when I had an enforced 3 month break from my treatment, never quite been there since, though DAS 28 score says low disease activity usually. That said my inflammatory markers rarely change even when in full flare so I'm not a huge believer in the DAS 28 being totally reliable, especially as it doesn't include the joints I have the most problems from. It is possible though so don't worry, you may achieve it too.

If you mean stop taking all drugs & going back to your PreRA self... .....probably not.But many ....on finding the right drug combination do achieve a very acceptable type of remission.

I haven't been told "officially" that I'm in remission but I feel that I'm probably pretty close to it.

I'm not due to have another consultation until November but am hoping that I might be able to reduce my Methotrexate dosage then as I'm now on triple therapy and am wondering if it will be possible to drop down a bit from my current 25mg by injection.

I started with Mtx. Added leflunomide after about a year. Was declared in remission since Nov 2015 after about a year and a half treatment.

Though in remission, but I still can feel the different in my joints, they are weaker as compare to before RA.

I learn to go slow to avoid any problem, like falling and so on.

not sure about remission .. i'm not big on the numbers involved.. i go by how i feel and the comparison between now and the prognosis given me 12 years ago.. which was .. in a wheelchair and not riding my motorbike.. now - still riding motorbikes and walking pretty well [ couple of miles last monday] MTX seems to work for me and i'll take the other crap that comes with it .... still better than it could have been....

That’s a great way to deal with RA.....behave how you want to behave...not how you read you might need to behave.I’m sure if I had read a site like this 20+ years ago I might have taken longer to get beyond my initial symptoms........ expecting the worst I read others were experiencing......often means that is what you get.

I think these sites can give you a perspective... sure i have some crap days.. but not as bad as it could have been or as bad as it is for some..... even when the fingers decide they want to be claws for a day.. i can still bash the keyboard with my knuckles.. lol

Can happily say I am in remission and have been on and off for probably over 4 years now. Never thought I'd go into remission when I was going through all the medication trials. I take mtx once a week (even when in remission) and ritux which is a biologic whenever I need it which is minimum six months but I've been able to be in remission about 1.5 years at a time. Fingers crossed it stays that way for a while.

I was diagnosed in 2009 and was in remission by 2012. I take hydroxy plus mtx. Never got above10mg my because my neutrophils kept dropping but it worked and I lived a normal life. Occasional aches but no problem. It all went pear shaped last September when I had to come off mtx for other reasons. I miss it- it wasn’t friend😁 and I’m now remembering what the early days were like

Yes, told I was in remission after about 18 months on MTX. That was about 17 months ago. Currently taking 10 mg MTX. was on higher doses to achieve the remission.
