Hi Phil and welcome. You've come to the right place for help, advice and a listening ear. I am on Methotrexate Metoject too and have been since September 2019. I was sleeping loads too before diagnosis and I thought I had a virus to be honest, I never dreamed it would be anything like RA but I was concerned as the level of tiredness was quite gross, then my hands started to swell etc. Anyway, more members will be along eventually for you to get to know and no doubt we will speak again some time. All the best to you. x

Welcome Phil!I'm on Metoject, Hydroxychloroquine and Sulfasalazine and starting to feel almost like my pre-RA self 😊 although having been an avid non-exerciser all my life, I'm now trying (at 60!) to actually start doing some... 😂

Welcome Phil glad you found this site, everyone shares their experiences which is really helpful on our journeys with all the different meds etc.., like you mine came out of the blue with no family members having had an autoimmune disease, so being here gives me great support as my family are wonderful but everybody here truly understands how we are affected, ups & downs, daily life etc.. glad you said hello .

Hello Phil. I hope you're doing well on Methotrexate and will soon be getting nearer your old form. This forum is great and I'm sure you will find people here willing to listen, share their experiences and offer support and kindness when you need it.

Hiya Phil, welcome from me too. I also live in the NW, a bit further north but like you on the coast. I'm also another MTX 'er, injecting, have been since 2010 but started tablets in 2009, diagnosed seropositive in 2008. There's every hope you'll get back to your favourite pursuits. Maybe having a read through the Your Stories section of the NRAS site will be encouraging, even inspiring nras.org.uk/information-sup... We also have a member, Lucy, an American who lives in Switzerland & is an elite endurance athlete. I'm sure she wouldn't mind me sharing one of her posts healthunlocked.com/nras/pos... or for you to read her profile & further posts which cover her particular journey from diagnosis to where she is now.

Welcome Phil it’s a shame you had to join the happy band of RA and autoimmune sufferers but you’re very welcome to the happy family or supporters who no doubt will help you through your journey. Any questions don’t be afraid to ask the support you’ll receive from everyone will ensure you don’t feel alone even if you just need to vent which we can do from time to time.

Hi Phil and welcome! This is such a great site to be on ~ everyone so helpful and informative. I'm on Methotrexate and Hydroxychloroquine and have been for the last year when I was first diagnosed with RA. I heard that these meds should slow down the progression of this disease but as of now I am still waiting to see that happen as my hands and wrists get terribly sore and swollen. Great to meet you !

runningbracken profile image
runningbracken in reply to Happy5

I really struggled at first probably similar to most on here. But with the correct meds am slowly getting some normality back. Hope your doing good with your RA👍

Well done you.Mostly a roller coaster as is usual methinks.

Had right hip replacement last October and lack of pain there is a boon.

Looking to get my left hip replaced end of this year.

Fascinating how much better pain levels are since the surgery, makes me wonder

how much it kicks off RA aggro?
