Hope this finds you as well as can be.
Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem with finding a comfortable dressing gown?
My problem is my neck. Everything I wear in the evening that fits around my neck makes it so uncomfortable when I lean back on the sofa! Even if I wear a hoody, I can feel it pressing into my neck.
I have a comfortable sofa and a cosy dressing gown. But it's just my neck - I just can't get comfortable.
Mine is a very warm, soft, silky fleecy wrap around job. It’s not got a hood because I find those uncomfortable as there’s so much extra fabric in the neck and upper back area. I got it from Debenhams but similar are available from M&S and John Lewis. I always cut the labels out of the neck of garments so they don’t irritate my neck. Hope you can find something more comfortable.
You don't say what type of collar your dressing gown has? My dressing gown has a collar that lays flat like a blouse collar and it is quite comfortable when I sit back in the chair, I don't feel anything pressing into my neck. Sorry if that is no help. Hope you can find something that is comfortable for you.
I can’t quite picture the problem....but I wonder whether an alternative strategy might be worth thinking about? I have a Cushie pillow that I use to support my neck at night. It’s so soft and squishy that it might take the pressure off.

I would say no collar at all then, and a lovely soft scarf.
Try QVC...clearance & their regular site...they usually have a few.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. The collar is a cowl neck; a fold over cover. I suppose the problem is the fold over, but also it has a seam vertically down the middle of the part where my spine/neck is. When I'm looking around at dressing gowns, many seem to have a seam here....strange but true.
What I’m not seeing is where it presses on your neck? As sat here with my tea the only bits that are touching the back of the chair are between my shoulder blades and then the back of my head at the top. My neck isn’t near the chair??
What drives me crazy is scratchy labels sewn into seams....I have a pair of gloves where the label irritates my wrist, but would have to unpick and resew a leather glove to get rid of it!
Where labels are sewn into seams I just cut off the label as close as I can get to the seam and then fluff out the remaining material. I find that this prevents the irritation.
I have a warm flat one from landsend all comfy and flat. They do all sizes too

How coincidental! I ordered a new one on Sunday as the zip on my current one has gone west. I got it through Amazon but other companies have Slenderella smile.amazon.co.uk/Slendere...
I chose this because of the collar & cuffs, my intention is to have the collar up most of the time, as well as the longer length & the zip of course. Although the one which this replaces isn't Slenderella I've had one of their housecoats before & the polar fleece is lovely & soft. I can't be doing with the robe type, they're always draughty on me for some reason, I feel more cocooned in a zip up but I'm sure I came across the same furry collar/cuff combo if you prefer that type, button down too but that's a non starter for me. It's available from a few sellers on Amazon if this company don't have your size or preferred colour in stock. They are true to size so if it's suitable go for your normal size, unless you prefer a more roomy dressing gown.
I’ve got a lovely fleecy one that my son got me a few years ago. It came from JL and has a flat-ish shawl collar.Have you thought of getting a soft-ish neck roll of some sort to put at the back of your neck to hold your head and neck at the correct angle when you sit? Even a towel rolled up to fit the gap - or even a lumbar roll to get your lower spine in the correct position? It’s not as easy as just sitting down but it will hold everything in the right position and be comforted rtable in the end.
The trouble is, I don't want anything in the gap that will press against my neck. My neck is sore
Sorry, I was coming at it from the angle that perhaps the collar was putting your neck at an angle that was putting a strain on it.Do you know what is making it sore? Is it the bones or muscles or is it your skin that is sensitive?
Would one without a collar be better? I’ve got one from M and S that is flat, no collar so it can’t get in the way.

I have the M&S grey fleece zip trough dressing gown £28, it’s very lightweight and yet still cosy, the collar is upright but I find it very comfortable and soft. The best dressing gown I’ve owned. I have back and shoulder issues by the way. X
