Morning my lovelies hope you are all well and enjoyed the ❄ yesterday.
Just wanted to update you on my recovery so far. I am recovering slowly and getting stronger each day. Only downside is the shortness of breathe but thats to be expected. I have a little more energy as each day approaches but have to look at my dozen post its around the place reminding me I am not wonderwoman and need to slow down.
I am back to remote teaching as of today and loving seeing my kids online. I am supporting this week as still catching my breathe is hard work but its still fun.
Again a huge thank you to you all for the continuous love, support and messages that pour in. Without knowing you all, you have all been truly amazing and given me so much courage and strength to fight this.
Its been a scary journey I can not lie about that but I do want you all to be safe and take this time for you and learn something new if possible. I know our RA doesn't always permit that but before life gets back to a new normal this is definitely a time I am embracing fully especially after almost not surviving covid.
Have a great day and again thank you 😊

Having breathing problems ,been like this for 2 months,on 3rd dose off antibiotics and waiting to go to respretry nurse and Medical clinic at hospital ,was in hospital at New year and been tested 2 for COVID but avoided it so far, apart from that drama I’m not bad xxx
I will do and I am in no rush. Not going to damage my body anymore than it has been. Besides I am enjoying this time as good time to reflect and declutter both people and things in my life.
Thanks for the update. Good to hear your progress, it's really good you can get back to some normality, albeit remotely. That must help mentally. Just need to get your breath situation sorted & you'll feel so much better I'm sure. Have you been given any idea when you can return to normal meds, aside from steroids?
I started steroids 25mg tapering down to 5mg on Friday and Idacio yesterday. Flare up has been keeping me awake all night so need to get that in control. I am taking my asthma pump five times a day which helps alot. They told me it can takes or months to recover as lungs were damaged so will take time. Good thing is I am at home and not running around after kids in school.
Sounds like starting your Idacio (adalimumab) had become really necessary. I suppose in some way being so poorly with COVID your concentration is on that & now you're on the road to improvement it's really time to get your condition under control. Recently I tried to find out if an existing condition goes into some form of remission when you have COVID, just to be prepared really, but I didn't get far. Do we battle with both is what I want to know really. Rhetorical question, I suppose only an immunologist could tell me.
When I had covid my arthritis wasn't playing up but now for two weeks its decided to say hello to me again and cause me pain. Plodding on daily but its hard as you focus on one and forget the other.
So from your experience maybe my thoughts (hopes) aren’t too far out. I know when I've been poorly my RD seems to go on the back burner somewhat whilst my body tackles the immediate illness. I don't have an actual flare but when I start improving that's when I do start flaring, why I wondered if it could possibly be the same with COVID. All you can do is go at your own pace, your body will tell you if you're not. It's getting the balance right isn't it but as your breathing is understandably still poor you'll know before pushing it too far. Take good care.
Totally. You just need to focus on whats causing you pain first and then the latter. Its very strange but right now I need my lungs to function and arthritis to be nice to me.
Glad to hear you are continuing to improve bit by bit. It's strange but whenever I've been poorly with something my RD is ok. I sometimes wonder if the immune system knows it should be fighting something else and sort of puts RD to one side and boy you have had quite something to be fighting off and I cannot imagine what you have been through and are still going through with you breathing. Then it almost feels as if RD has been waiting in the wings and once whatever it is you have been poorly with it's there again or it's 'back in the room' so to speak. Anyway keep moving forward and as you are doing bit by bit returning to some sort of routines and things that will help your well being. Take care xx
I am getting my nails done by my daughter soon who is practicing to be a nail technician during the holidays to earn extra money lol. Well for now anyway.
Thank you for asking. I'm doing ok, a bit frustrating waiting for some postponed tests because the whole gastro department at the local hospital have been redeployed to covid wards, but thankful that it not urgent. I have had two days of lovely dog walking in our local park which is really beautiful in its snowy blanket, , 2 years ago I was in a wheelchair with a back injury so every walk is a time to count my blessings. I learned a lot about taking one day at a time and being gentle and patient with myself.
Hi Ms-D. It's great to hear that you are recovering, even if only a bit each day - that's better than nothing. I hope you continue to recover and get back to being fighting fit. Thanks for letting us know how you are and keep up the good work. 💪💛 xx
I looked like a half poodle on one side and not sure what she did on the other side. She was just happy to do it so I let her. Yes seeing them again was great. I saw them Friday but now back to full time woohoo
I was just happy to see her so happy as she has been so scared and still clingy. She is actually asking questions about what happened as since she returned from her dads she has not wanted to talk about it so I did not want to push her. Slowly she is opening up to her fears.
I think that’s very wise, we just have to go at the pace their minds can handle all the information/emotions don’t we? I always think about it as being a bit like putting together the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, I know if I give my daughter all the jigsaw pieces at the same time she feels totally overwhelmed. When my Mum was dying last year, my daughter would only talk about it for a few minutes at a time, then would go away to process that, and come back with a question a day or so later and we would talk about it some more. I think it’s a really good sign that your daughter is asking questions now, so she can process and move past what has happened, and life will slowly return to normal (whatever that is right how!). Xx
I totally understand. Its a scary process for anyone and she needs her time and mind to be clear. Shes stronger each day and more like her chirpy self. Felt bad in hospital as couldn't call her as couldn't speak due to breathing and knew she needed me. But three weeks on and I'm home and looking like a poodle most days or a teenager with braids. Not sure which look I prefer lol
Nothing like a bit of mum-guilt is there?! Seriously though, you shouldn’t feel guilty, you had to save your energy for getting better so you could get back home to her which you did. I’m sure she will be fine after another few weeks of giving you embarrassing hair styles! (Good job it’s a lockdown 🤣🤣)
Ms-D, so glad that you are recovering albeit a long slow road. Be good to yourself, and thanks for keeping us updated. So good to hear that someone is getting better amidst all the gloom and despair. x
I just wanted to update people as so many of you were asking how I am and checked in on me regularly. There are some good happy endings and some sad. But people just need to be careful. How are you doing?
Am doing OK thanks. Methotrexate added to Cimzia is working better. Not yet able to put my kickers on standing up. 🤣Looking forward to getting my vaccine as it would be lovely just to go out for a coffee with friends. Take good care. xx
So glad to hear you are on the mend. I am reading all the books I’ve always promised myself. I will come out of this a genius. Take it easy like the caramel bunny!
I just got some caramel biscuits before next online class. Enjoy the books what are you reading? I am reading Chicken Soup for the Soul and its awesome.
Just finished After me comes the flood. Sarah Perry makes you think afterwards! Also ploughed through the Vera series very good. Now onto Hitchhikers guide 😍
Glad to hear you are doing better each day after having Covid. I had Covid in December and here it is almost 4 weeks post and I still have not regained my taste and smell. Is this something that you are experiencing also? I'm just trying to figure out how long those symptoms last as it's a very annoying issue.
I can smell just about but taste is hit and miss. Sometimes its ok then others i barely taste anything. I wish it would get better soon. How are you otherwise.
I'm doing pretty good, I feel the fatigue issue hangs on for a while so still trying to get back my full energy level. But then again it's winter when we tend to stay inside more and cozy up by the fire, so don't seem to need as much energy
