I was scheduled to have a bladder cancer operation(TURBT) on January 7th. Got a call yesterday morning telling me that all operations are being cancelled and they have no idea when the next date will be available. I was very upset and let the poor person at the other end in no doubt about it. 45 minutes later, she called back with a new date for my op - January 6th - and an apology saying that this should never have happened. From my world collapsing to being whole again within the hour was quite an emotional rollercoaster.
So tomorrow is my Covid test and fingers crossed I'll be out back home by Thursday without having to eat hospital lunch.
A happy new year to all of you wonderful, lovely people.

Flipping heck! From nadir to zenith within the hour you must be emotionally exhausted. I'm wishing you all the very best of luck for a successful operation and a speedy return home
OMG the stress levels must have gone off the scale....I wonder if you hadnβt let rip would you have got another date? Making some noise is the only way some times.. good luck .
I'm so sorry you had to experience this uncertainty right before a very important operation. I'm so pleased it's been promptly rescheduled and wish you the very best for a speedy recovery π€π€
Well I am glad they rethought that. It is very good that you let them know how you felt ... we do have to tell them and push for what is needed ... it is so bad hearing how some are being treated... or rather not treated. Huge good luck with it all. π
Whoa talk about having the rug pulled out from you and then an hours later having it put back again. I'm glad that you got rescheduled and want to wish you well for the 6th. So it's all systems go now, take care and let us know how you are when you can. Take care x
Sorry youβve had that worry from the phone calls, but glad youβre going to have your op very soon. Wishing you the very best and hope you are soon back home recovering. ππ
So sorry to hear about your bladder cancer, but I shall be keeping everything crossed that it now goes ahead as planned on the 6th, and that there is a successful outcome. π€Keep us posted please.
Golly a roller coaster of information & extremely concerning initially for you, glad you showed your truthful feelings on the tel call & thankfully your call handler went off & checked it all out on your behalf. Yes I really do wish you all the very best & like you say home before you know it to make a damned good start to the New Year, great news delighted for you as it needs to be done ASAP.
Wishing you a big hug for luck ππ»πππ»ββοΈThe 6th is epiphany so hopefully you will have one of the wise men or women doing the op! Take care x
Great idea the stronger the better eh. Iβm sure you will be avoiding people at all costs at the mo donβt want to take any chances of Covid contact especially as you are so close to your op.
Good for you for standing up for yourself! Imagine what would have happened to a more shy or deferential patient. It should not be that they get pushed around, but they do. My Mum, for example, would have thought if the hospital was saying so it must be right.I hope all goes well with the operation.
Just wanted to pass along my very best wishes for you for your upcoming operation on the 6th January. You will be in my thoughts. I am so sorry to hear of the rollercoaster you have been on though and how truly awful that they had initially rang to cancel your operation too. I am so pleased you found the strength to make your feelings very clear about the impact this had for you. A real inspiration to so many of us. x
Tank you so much for your kind words. I did feel sorry for the poor thing at the other end. Talking about shooting the messenger. It's a terrible thing to have to do. I'm sure everything will be fine from now on. A hug to you.
What a roller coaster, you obviously didn't need that grieve! But I am glad and truly happy it's been resolved. Stay strong we are behind you . Warmest Craig
Hell's bells! I'm glad for you that it got sorted PDQ. Good luck with your Covid test and the op on Thursday - really hope you get the very best outcome and a speedy recovery.
Good on you for making them tow the line. It isnβt an βelectiveβ procedure. You would think someone in those ivory towers of intellect could have figured that out before they called you and sent your heart β₯οΈ into a fluttering mess.
Well, now that things are back on track...walking on sunshine βοΈ rightly so! Carry on! Blessings to ya on the 6th!
Hello D, I guess it was some person in middle management who had a brilliant idea...... I just felt really sorry for the one who had to make the phone calls. It'll all be over and done with soon now and I can move on and be as right as sunshine as I say. Thank you and may you be well.
