Definitely getting there. Because of the lack of any physio due to lockdown, apparently the glue used internally has stuck to the skin ,muscle and tissue surrounding the scar , and as a result the skin did not move at all. This then was pulling so hard when moving my ankle to walk, it was in danger of tearing the Achilles’ tendon- bloody sore but it’s definitely getting there!
No thanks needed - you are welcome. It's been a bit of a tough recovery for you hasn't it? That complication sounds very unpleasant and painful. I've had issues with scars being tight and painful, but not to that degree and not for that reason. I can't imagine how uncomfortable that must be for you. I really hope it carries on improving now. 🤞
The whole ankle replacement has been a bit of a curve ball. After having both hips replaced, both knees replaced, wrist surgeries and a host of other surgeries - I have never had a problem and always recovered speedily and well.
The ankle was a nightmare from the start! The infection afterwards did not help, especially as it was down to the nurse leaving multiple stitches in and then the lack of immediate follow up care due to covid, simply made a bad situation worse!!
Still, there’s worse things in life and people suffering for various reasons, much more than me - so, onwards and upwards, I say xx
Onwards and upwards indeed, but it has undoubtedly been a difficult one! I've had lots of ops too, and generally recover fairly well, but as you say, sometimes we can just get a bit of a spanner in the works, or in your case, lots of stitches left in! I hope the ankle will have a good life now, after a poor start!
I hope you may get a break from surgery now for a bit? I've got another couple on the horizon, but for now, the less they are thought about the better!! As you rightly say, there's plenty of people out there with much more pressing problems! At least we get to keep shuffling
