Been waiting on appointment for podiatrist but seemingly to get telephone appointment on 6th Jan does anyone know how this works please

I had physio over the phone I got my son to video me trying to walk . I was given exercise and appointments over the phone 4 times in the end I asked to be seen he admitted that he hadn’t realised the extent of my problems until he saw me physically. 4 further physio appointments ( seen physically) I have improved a lot.

I’m not sure how they can help if you need insoles you need to be measured etc. I hand an appointment with the hand clinic over the phone they guessed the size of my wrist splint .. too big still waiting to be seen.

My first podiatry appointment was an assessment to see if they could help or whether I needed to be seen elsewhere and then I got an appointment for treatment from that. Maybe yours will be the same?

Thanks kittyj that makes sense I suppose

At my phone appointment my lovely podiatrist asked how things were going and if there were any issues. She sent me out a sheet of foot exercises and said if a certain area gave me cause for concern to send a photo and brief description to the department email and she would take it from there.

Thanks Gnarli maybe same for me

If it's your first appointment it may well be different but I hope you get someone as kind, friendly and knowledgeable

Hiya Coisty. I have regular Podiatry appointments but I would think your tel app't will be to assess your issues & from there they'll determine when you can be seen. It may not be straight away if your Pods have a backlog. During lockdown mine were limiting appointments to open wound clinics only for a while, though I was able to attend a couple of months ago. My feet were soooo glad!I hope you're finding it helpful being here.

Same here, I called them, at the moment they haven't opened the Peditory department at our GP surgery, they say it is because of Covid 19, it will be a while, before everything comes normal.
