is it safe to have the Pfizer vaccine as I am allergic to Penicillin & salmon? I currently take MXT 20 mgm orally
safe?: is it safe to have the Pfizer vaccine as I am... - NRAS
safe?
I’m not sure but a friend of mine is allergic to penicillin and they were refused it to be on the safe side.
I went and searched for this link I found last week, QAGS. It might help. technologyreview.com/2020/1...
But best ask health professionals.
Only your own doctor can tell you that....some people with allergies may be able to have that vaccine ....but it will be a very personal choice and your own doctor must be the one who you consult.
It is early days. They are still working out the protocols for vaccination so it may well turn out that it will be fine, but you just need to have the vaccination in a proper medical centre. Who knows yet!
They are rightly being careful with people who need to carry epi-pens, so that is good. Give it time, and anyway there are other vaccines in the pipeline.
Ask your doctor. Ut was the group that carried EpiPens initially I believed were told to hold off until more trials done.
Hi QAGS,There are other vaccines in the pipeline and one of them should good for us ‘allergics’.This has some useful info and is updated pretty regularly but know that it’s a news site not a medical clinic one newsinteractives.cbc.ca/cor...
As things are there are only 4 serious allergic reactions that I am aware of out of thousands vaccinated already so the Pfizer may be viable for some of us with allergies depending on ingredients etc.... what I find hard is I don’t know which ingredient/s of the medications I’ve reacted to in the past we’re responsible for my allergic reaction so I can’t answer the question ‘are you allergic to any of these ingredients?’ I do know that I’m allergic to shell fish and look out for that listed as an ingredient but that’s about all I can confidently look for right now. It is worth knowing that the 4 cases mentioned above were successfully treated for their allergic reactions.
All the best

I sat in on a webinar with Pfizer last week. They advised there are no animal products and no egg in this vaccine. As many have pointed out, there has been reactions in people who have a history of severe allergy that require them to carry an epi pen, so this group of people have been excluded at this time. But as everyone else has said, check with your own team of Health professionals
thank you Nadine
