I would just like to provide some reassurance for people. I received the Pfizer vaccine this morning as I am a community nurse in the NHS. I double checked with the rheumatology department and they said it was ok to have this as it’s not a live vaccine. I currently take leflunomide, hydroxychloraquine and prednisone. No ill effects so far and I’m so glad to get this.

Pfizer Vaccine
Excellent! Really pleased to hear you got the vaccine so promptly and have suffered no ill effects. Hope it will eventually make you feel safer - especially in terms of your job.
Thanks for letting us know and stay well!
😊
👍
Great news; thank you for letting us know and for working to keep the NHS functioning - we'd be lost without you! 💐
Good news.
So pleased to hear👏👏 I can’t wait for my turn, but well done to you and to letting us know how it went for you. Xx
Good to hear this, the more reassurance the better so people will take up the vaccine when invited. xx
Excellent! Hope this stays the course with no ill effects and the efficiency proves out. We all need 2021 to be a bit better than that s year. Thanks for all you do!
That’s great and thanks for telling us. Hope it works for you and please keep us posted.
Thank you for sharing 🙂
Good for you! Well deserved. It is not a live vaccine from what I’ve read..
That’s great news I take methotrexate and benepali injections is that still ok stay safe
That is wonderful. Thank you so much for posting this. We need as many people to take up this vaccine as possible or it will be pointless. I am getting quite fed up of hearing negative things about everything. I thing some people thrive on being negative. In my opinion there are three choices and one option. You can have the vaccine which is the only way out of this virus, you can refuse the vaccine and catch the covid 19 or you can just stay inside four walls and never hug your family again. There is only one option in my opinion and I can't wait to get my call to go for the vaccine. If it wasn't for vaccines we would have been wiped out many years ago with either smallpox, TB, measles etc. Well done you for spreading the word.
Or a person can sit tight due to known allergies and wait for more information around the allergy issue before choosing to make a firm decision on which vaccine to plummet for.... life is never 2-tone and some won’t be hugging loved ones for a while longer out of necessity not active choice!! So I’ve had to cancel the Xmas distance-visit to my 85 year old mum as she’s in tier 2, I’m in tier 3 and she is also holding off from vaccine due to allergies - I’ve had COVID but won’t be having this vaccine for now due to several allergies (inc a few meds over the years) - from where I’m sat a little less judgement and a bit more compassion for those that don’t neatly fit into the options offered would be appreciated! All the best

🙂 Thank you for all the invaluable work you!
Where you asked to stop medication after for a bit ? I was told AFTER i took flu jab methotrexate shouldve been stopped for a fortnight afterwards to make it take effect? No after effects means it hasnt absorbed well enough as your immune system isnt fighting it i have been told.....Good luck with getting it and well done 👍🏻
Good to hear, when i get called i will have it.xxxx
Thank you for all your hard work.... Merry Christmas xx
😀
You are bound to say that as you work for NHS. I will wait to see if there are any other side effects. Afterall the pharmaceutical companies are making a lot of money from this. I do not trust them.
That’s a shame you feel that way. Why is it that as she works for nhs that she is bound to say it went well🤔Nhs staff aren’t given inducements to promote any more than the rest of us.
😞
I work for the NHS and i certainly am no promoter of this vaccine. I just feel that someone having RA that has been vaccinated has valuable info to give us and should be listened to.
It is pointless to base your decision on having any treatment on the wait & see point of view.....it is proven from the posts on here that many take a drug very successfully...whereas others don’t....Of all those who had the Pfizer vaccine recently....only two had a bad enough reaction for it to be reported...looks like pretty good odds to me...& believe me...NHS employees would be the first to shout long & loud if they thought any drug was unsafe.
Than you!
Good news. I too am pleased you got it so promptly. Look after yourself.
Thank you for posting that as well as for your work as a nurse. Much appreciated.
Wow , thank you for letting us know. Hope you stay well ,keep us up to date with how you are feeling. Xxx
Hats off to you Mackymay and to all NHS workers, you are all angels. also thanks for the reassurance I cant wait to get my jab. I hope you have a great Christmas and most of all a better New Year.
Ray.
😀
Can’t wait to get mine then hug the grandchildren x
Thank you so much for this really informative & helpful post at this time of concern. I don’t doubt you did your own research as a community nurse it’s in your interest, but this is really uplifting for our community & I’m sure others, A BIG THANK YOU.
So pleased to read your post! I've been dithering - to wait or not to wait if, and when, I'm called. Well, last Friday I was called and tomorrow (Monday) I go for the first dose, followed on 11 January by the second. I had already been reassured by the rheumatology department that there was no need to interrupt my medications - methotrexate and remsima (infliximab).
Thank you for letting us know - and also thank you for your invaluable service as part of the NHS.
best wishes, bienassis x
Thanks for your post! Have you been educated on risk of immuno suppressed by Prednisone folks getting a vaccine? Seems counterintuitive to me and I can't find any info. Seems like giving me a shot to cause my system to react to a virus isn't a good idea... Happy healthy '21 to you!
Hi, just wondering if you got any info as to what sort of immunity you should have after the vaccine? My mother has got her Pfizer vaccine, but was told that due to being on Arava it may not be so effective for her. Thanks
