New drug for RA
Jaxine posted this earlier, about 7 posts down the page...
There was something in The Times yesterday. It has been passed by NICE too
This is the link to the report in The Times.......

The drug is called Upadacitinib and can be found on NICE offering guidelines. Seems that it is expensive so you need to fail on all the other conventional drugs first! £805 per pack of 28 - it is taken daily..

It is promising but not without its problems...
I gave the link to this section of the programme on Jaxine's post yesterday but this is it again itv.com/thismorning/article...

The firm responsible for this drug seem to have been very successful with their publicity! Like other medications it will have drawbacks as well as benefits and certainly isn't a 'cure', but another JAK inhibitor to add to he two already in use.
As I said in another thread on this subject, my sister started on this about three months ago but with little response so far (she was on another JAK inhibitor before).
I suppose a cautious HURRA is in order. Let's hope it will help as many people as possible to get into remission. It's fantastic that new drugs come on all the time. Thank you scientists.
