Well they said it like it is .... leaving out the politics.

As long as everybody - whether they are 18 or 80 - understands it’s THEIR responsibility ...not somebody else’s ....to ensure that we don’t contribute to spreading the virus...their worst predictions hopefully will not be realised

Agreed and if they act on it now they may prevent families suffering death, mental health issues and the economy in the longterm. Lots if optimism for a trusted vaccine by spring. So I will hopefully hang on in there !

The trouble is from what we see of people interviewed on TV, & around us, too many people think they are entitled to do exactly as they please ....& proceed to blame politicians for the virus.

I think we all agree that the way it has been handled could well be improved Upon but the virus is here...no British politician caused it...indeed many of them, including the PM have experienced it.

Covid is here to stay, and unless everybody gets it through their skulls that individual entitlement has to be put on the shelf for now .....we are going to be in exactly this same position this time next year!

I thought it was good it had no politician doing the talking. I still think though that as prison isn't viable to punish and most will not have funds to pay a fine its mostly a hot air punishment. It won't stop people behaving like Covidiots if they want too. As Boris backed Cummins does the new legislation have subtle different meanings depending on who you are ?'. I think it's now back to lockdown in the short term but under a new guise of households not mixing. So many people have not done the right thing but we can only keep ourselves safe until the potentially good news that a vacine becomes available. Now will the panic buying start again? I feel so sorry for the children and those in the cities.

Panic buying has already started. My friend in Sheffield said tescos there was getting cleared. Not finding that where we live thankfully. We are trying to buy normal with a few extra tins each shop but nothing drastic. I now work in town and pass small shops so will pick up a few fresh things each time if required.

The panic buying last time was horrendous 😔

Absolutely....they told it like it is and made it very clear that we are responsible for ourselves. It’s not as if we are being asked to do anything impossible or difficult.....we just need to use our common sense.

You are quite right - threatening to fine people who have no money is a waste of effort and makes the politicians look foolish & completely out of touch.

Maybe those who do break the rules should be made to do some sort of public service ....cleaning the streets or collecting the rubbish their colleagues are leaving all over the place?

The good old American Chain Gang comes to mind... I’m sure we could make them lovely bright orange shirts to wear.... That would be more of a deterrent than a fine that they know they will never have to pay..... & the indignity might make them shape up?

I know ....in my dreams .....it might upset the snowflakes!

Not what you're looking for?
