Hi , hope you are all doing ok . I just wanted to update you on my situation, I got my steroid injection 3weeks ago and this week I can honestly say it’s beginning to make a difference well I’m not taking as many painkillers and that can only be a good thing. I have struggled the last few weeks so much so that I wrote a letter to my GP including some pictures of how my joints have and can change , since I did this I’ve to go for more blood tests next week, and GP foned today to tell me that after sending my fotos to rheumatologist my referral is now urgent. I just wanted to ask the pain / swelling has mostly been in my feet/ ankles and elbows , but recently my hands / wrists have been so sore but today my hands are fine does this happen to yourselves?

Yes, the pain can be ankles one day, wrists another or all over. But mainly on both sides tends not to be just one side.

Glad they are helping , good news x

Great news your GP has escalated your referral, I really hope it's not too long before you're seen.

RD tends to affect the smaller joints symmetrically so what you're experiencing seems pretty textbook. It can come & go, it's not always constant, but mornings are when they'll be at their worst as the materials which cause the inflammation collect when we're not moving about. So, the fluid collects around the joints making it more difficult to move as it causes pain & stiffness. This is why we're usually asked to take our NSAID &/or steroids in the evening so they, in theory, are up & ready working in the morning when we get up.

Let us know when your appointment date comes through. Things seem to be moving a bit better now, my h got his CT scan appointment through this morning so hopefully you'll hear soon.
