Hi I am to start on the drug baricitinib (olumiant) tablets and was wondering if anyone has had experience of this? Im not liking some of the side effects that has been written about with this drug as they say they are very common! Any info much appreciated!

If you type that into the search box and filter for NRAS then all the posts about it will come up, there’s been some very recently 😊

Well I started it a year ago having been through metho, sulfasalazine, hydroxy and leflunamide. Took about 6 weeks to kick in and it was as if someone had waved a magic wand. Not to say I don’t flare or have fatigue but on a daily basis life is bearable. I use it as a mono therapy. Good luck!

I've been on every drug under the sun and these have been wonderful for me. Just now I opened a taped up box. With my hands!

The side effects info on all the drugs can give you sleepless nights. Just give it a go and if it doesnt work for you move onto the next drug. 😊

Hi ,

I have been on Baricitinib for a year now, on the whole it has been very affective.

However the side effects have been a depressing reality for me, weight gain and high cholesterol . (now have to take Statins)

One has to choose side effects or having one's life back! no brainer really.

Good Luck Scorpiojack.

Hi,

I’ve been on these for a year now. My side effect are the same as painterlady, weight gain, almost a stone and a half since August 2019 and raised cholesterol.

I wouldn’t say the are brilliant, but as I’ve depleted all the other med my RA Doctor has, I don’t seem to have a lot of choice atm until I see a new specialist. Good luck! hope they help 🤗x

Heya,

I have been on Baricitinib for 2 years (before that I was on Simponi/golimumab). I haven't had any side effects and it works just as well as Simponi!

I haven't had any side effects at all :)

Good luck with starting baricitinib, I hope it works wonders for you as well!

Best,

Christine

Hi I'm starting them on Friday and feel exactly same as you. The side effects are really off putting. Do you know if it's best to take them morning or evening or doesnt it matter? Tried ringing helpline but haven't had call back. Hope you cope well with them.🤞

I’m just back from my rheumatologist and about to start this. I was told to take the at the same time every day as they are quick to come out of your system. Hope this helps

I don’t think when u take them matters. I take mine in evening. Great thing about them is if you do get any side effects ( I’ve had a couple of chest infections that’s all) you just stop and they leave your system pretty well straight away. I agree side effects list looks awful but they work for me, and given they are a daily tablet I would say worth trying.
