I have been on baricitinib for 2 years, took a year to kick in but now it’s suppressed all RA activity down, feel good on it, hope it lasts!

Interesting you should say that, I've been taking baricitinib for around 2 years and began to feel some benefit just a couple of days after starting it. It more or less continued like that until approx 6 months ago when my RA improved even more and I began to really feel the benefit. Unfortunately it was too good to last and it seems to be losing effect over the past few weeks. I'm only taking 2mg and will consider increasing to 4mg if it gets any worse.

Thanks for your reply. They have started me on 4mg straight away so I must be in a state! Also on salfasalazine too.

Hope the improved amount works for you!

I think most people start on 4mg. I'm taking 2mg because I'm prone to infections, hence am reluctant to increase to 4mg if I can avoid it. A big plus with baricitinib is it leaves the body within a few days if you need to stop taking it due to an infection, which is the main reason why my rheumy put me on it.

Good luck with it.

A year is a very long time! I never heard about someone waiting for a year for a medicine to kick in. Good to know it worked in the end!

Have a look at Fang’s post below, asking the same thing, there are a few replies there or type baricitinib into the search box and more posts will come up about it 😊

Thank you Kitty J. I will take a look.

I started on it in April after ritux stopped working and TCZ never worked.

I love it. Its a tablet so very easy to take.

Lloyd's clinical home care deliver it every 3 months and I had bloods after 4 weeks then 3 monthly. Easy peasy. And it started working quickly.

Lloyd’s have said they will deliver for me too. Hope it works.

Thank you for your response. I am hobbling around at the moment with a knee that won’t straighten up. So I am hopeful !

I was on it and it was going great until i started getting breathing problems. Not sure what the cause of the breathing problems were, but i was whipped of Baricitinib pretty quickly as it is one of the side effects of it.xxxx

Thank you Sylvi I have been on it for a week now. No side effects but no signs of improvement either. Hopefully it will start to kick in soon. I will look out for side effects especially the breathing. Hope you are okay now and enjoying the sun.
