Hello everyone, anyone know any topical gels/creams that actually ease pain of synovitis? I'm waiting for Leflunamide to kick in and in a lot of pain in right hand (not ideal!). Arnica has been recommended and I always try natural things first but has anyone had any success with it? Thanks in advance :)

We swear by Arnica Gel (Atrogel by A Vogel) and Arnica Cream. We were told when it first appeared several years ago that it's the natural alternative to Ibuprofen and we have used it ever since - best applied to warm skin (probably after a shower). Of course, there is always the fact that what one suits one may not suit another so it's just try it and see. Good luck.

I find pernaton gel very soothing.

I bought arnica gel after my plaster cast came off. I didn’t love it because it felt sticky to me and I didn’t love the smell but my husband reckoned it really took the swelling down and I suppose he was right even though it wasn’t my favourite.

I used pernaton gel too and I really liked that, I liked the smell and it wasn’t sticky, I worked my way through a big tube of it. Although it is green lipped muscle gel, there is no fishy smell at all - I once had green lipped muscle capsules that smelled so fishy only the cat liked them - it has rosemary, pine, eucalyptus, citrus and that sort if stuff in it so it smells fresh - not fishy.

For topical pain relief my GP prescribed Ibuleve Max Strength gel and it really works a treat on anywhere that is red/angry, painful and inflamed. It doesn’t smell great - a bit fishy - but that goes after a while and it’s worth it for the pain relief.

I think Voltarol gel is similar.

Thank you all so much. I'll start with the natural ones. Pernaton gel sounds interesting, I hadn't heard of it. Just researched it. Amazon next step...
