Advice and any info needed. I had a shielding letter and then got priority shop slot then a few weeks ago started getting food parcels. I didnt seem able to cancel so they have been going to the local food bank. So far so good . Last week I took a call from the local council hub seeing if all was ok and I said I didnt need the food parcel but need the priority food slot. The lady took my NHS number and said she’d have them stopped and that it wouldnt affect my slot. Next day I missed a call saying from gov shielding regarding that I now don’t need help and they will phone again. The number is unobtainable and I’ve had no further call. I have phoned the council who have now said, yes I could well lose the slot and the lady’s information may not have been right ! What do I do now ?? Shall I reregister again or just leave ? Sorry for the really long winded post , I feel I’m losing my grip and the anxiety regarding all the advice is getting to me. Stay safe everyone, and thankyou again

My advice would be re register. You need the slot. X

I did this and still have my priority slot it took a few weeks to cancel the box then got a text to say cancelled but would not affect my delivery slots. Still able to order food online from sainsburys

Thankyou for your replies, im still on at the moment but was told can take 10 days to stop the box so will just have to wait and see. Hope it will be ok. Thankyou again

I also didn’t need the food parcels and didn’t want to lose my priority slots. Then I got a letter in my last parcel telling me how to de-register from my food box if not required and that I wouldn’t lose my priority slot from the supermarket.

I had to re- register and select yes in answer to the question, Do you have a way of getting essential supplies delivered at the moment?. Or alternatively I can refuse the next parcel by letting the driver know, and it will be re-delivered to another vulnerable person in need. Hope this helps 🌈🤗x

Hi there. I too received the very well presented food parcel and lamented to the driver that I didn't need it, just a shopping slot, and could he take it back and let someone who really needs it have it. He did take it back, said he would make a note on his list, and also for me to email DEFRA - they seem to be the department who are arranging all this. so I emailed them at defra.helpline@defra.gov.uk ---- I thanked them very much for all their help and explained my situation, (wanted to stay on list for priority shopping slot, but don't need the food parcel). I received the generic reply that they had received my email. Anyway, the upshot is, I haven't received another parcel :-) ! Hope this might be helpful.

I got a note in the food parcel asking me to log on to gov site to say I didn't need and that it wouldn't affect my supermarket slot... so it better not!!! Did it on Friday and so far ASDA haven't rejected me. What a carry on it all is.

Think im living in heightened anxiety !!! After last weeks phone call, the food box hasn’t arrive today, so now i’m just so hoping it’s not affected my supermarket slot !

I can’t believe that your priority service would be lost. The food boxes were meant to tide us over until we had those sorted weren’t they.

Tesco have a phone number to call and you get a priority slot for online shopping. They have been very good and reliable. They didnt ask for any info when i registered. I just get priority booking for delivery
