Just read it too on my government email. My son says it wont happen but my fingers are SO crossed right now . I hope as it says in the email vulnerable people will be first and I hope that includes my family so I can see them !,

Absolutely.

As a key worker, I’m hoping that we get the antibody test quickly too. Not only might this free people up regarding work but the psychological benefits of knowing that you’ve had it, could potentially be immense.

It’s a global effort, the vaccine, so like you, I’ll continue to keep my fingers crossed x

I reckon they must have a hunch or more than that, thats its working and are beginning to milk the positivity that a vaccine will bring. Lets pray and hope it works and they've got one for those who can't have a live vaccine. But Boris was bit cautious this morning even so to say the UK was at the forefront is heartening. I wonder what are the 6 drugs on trial ?

Agreed. It will be interesting to see how things unfold but I for one, can’t wait for the ‘new normal’ - any type of normal, in fact!

Tocilizumab, low dose corticosteroids, bemcentinib and ritonavir, I think are 4 of the drugs being trialled. The information is not easy to find.

Yes, I’ve heard of these, ad potential treatments/ therapies . I think the headline is more to give hope, than anything mire concrete. Oxford seem to be doing well, building on what they’d known from SARS and Ebola and what they seem to be saying, is when they have a vaccine, with the big drug company they’ve now done a deal with, they’ll be ready to manufacture it and roll it out quickly, with Britain being the first to get it. X

If true this news is the best I've heard in a long time. Forgive my reticence but I won't be first in line for it. I'd rather have an accurate test first.

It would be a great step forward and the hope would be, it would only be used if it were 100% accurate x

It would be the most amazing good news for everyone. The end of isolation and all the fears and frustrations that result from it. I can almost hear the sigh of relief from here. I'm perhaps overly cynical. I want to see and hug my children and grandchildren. I want to shop for myself. I want not to be so scared but, well, we'll see

Lets hope. I understand that Oxford are working with Astra Zeneca to manufacture it. I think they had a head start as they had already identified the virus, unlike Ebola or Zika. Plus, as it’s worldwide unlike others previously, every country will have a vested interest in finding a vaccine or treatment and will hopefully work together.
