So I just got a delivery of veg and meat coming . I'm very aware I'm shielding and dont want the packages directly into the house . The delivery is on the doorstep, so what are you all doing to cut down the risk?
What are you doing : So I just got a delivery of veg... - NRAS
What are you doing
Leave it there or in garage/shed/kitchen floor for an hour or so and pack with gloves then wash hands. You can't wash spuds etc in soap can you or wipe with sanitiser but left alone and then cooked must be ok. I've put meat in freezer and left veg out. I'm not sure its even passable to completely eliminate risk but we can cut it down.
This is a very good pint, can we fully eliminate risk?! 🤷🏻♀️ I know it’s exhausting with all the extra disinfecting especially with arthritic hands and obviously no extra help at the mo. Does anyone know how much extra we should be disinfecting..I’m giving the kitchen and bathrooms a good clean everyday especially with hubby still working..but how much is too much, any advice would be appreciated ..sorry to hijack you post Allanah but ML has raised a good point. Xx
Think once a day enough unless you have anyone been out for shopping etc?
It does get me, I know be careful but honestly it only takes one little bugger doesn't it ? So yes wash away like me and I'm a clean freak but can I be sure that I got 100% then no I can't and so I'll do my very best and not freak out over it. I've just turned away the window cleaner for this month now thinking why he works on his own I don't touch the outside of them so was it irrational panic ?
And today I'm going stir crazy I've done my exercises, 2 km on the machine plus all the rest, got tea ready to cook, phoned a few people and taken a couple and so now going to chill with book. So might change my user name to Feet Up! lol xxx
Never washed my hands so much,I just got my injections delivered guy left on doorstep for me retreated back the 2 metres and waited for me to pick them up xxx
I out in gloves. I spray with appropriate spray and wipe. For veg, I wash. Gloves in bucket and scrub hands.
God only knows if this is enough but it’s pretty much all I’ve got! X
My slaves wear rubber gloves and leave everything in the kitchen for an hour. Except frozen foods. Wash hands and unpack. Then sanitize all surfaces.
Sounds sensible, hubby who is social distanci g took produce out of delivery packages and threw them straight into outdoor bin. I then put them into freezer bags etc, he washed fruit and veg . I then cleaned all surfaces like I was in an operating theatre 😂😂😏 washed hands, arms face etc might go for a shower too !! Lol !!!! I'm getting like michael Jacksonwith germs!
Ps the delivery man left me a free bunch of flowers!!
I’ve started Pilates for arthritis.. omg I’m rubbish 😂😂
How did you wash the flowers ? lol and it's just like Michael Jackson isn't it ? x
Think it's worth remembering that the most effective method with this particular virus is soap and water.....that's why the emphasis on washing hands. Bleach doesn't kill it. I have a spray with washing up liquid mixed with water, wearing gloves I clean everything that has to be put in fridge/freezer or needed straight away. Then wash hands and arms, and change out of clothes...straight into washing machine .Everything else I leave in the bags for at least 24 hours.
My son in law is a gp, my daughter studied medical microbiology and they have spelled everything out to me.
Post I leave for 24 hours, if it's urgent plastic gloves, open and read, then leave in open air, bin the gloves, wash hands.
I will take all precautions, not because I am frightened of dying, but I am frightened of dying alone in hospital without being able to see my family. Each person that obeys the rules reduces the load on the NHS.
Good luck to everyone!!!
I think cardboard only harbours things for like 20-30 mins ? Plastic is 72 hours? If u can just leave everything in a pile for 3 days & then deal with it? But obvs not cold stuff..cold stuff wipe it down with a wipe? Hope that helps xx
I've heard cardboard upto 24 hours. Don't know if you mean wipe down with antibacterial wipes, but they don't kill the virus. Antibacterial wipes and sprays should say....kills 99.9% of bacteria and VIRUSES to work, most just say bacteria. x
