I have RA and take methotrexate and biological meds (Enbrel) and have recently read that animals can also catch Covid-19. I have two outdoor cats, is there any information regarding people with pets such as cats and dogs? Cat owners have no control where they frequent or who they potentially contact in people’s gardens etc.

Just a thought

I think there might be some scare mongering going on over this. Yes cats can catch a coronavirus but they have their own special one . My cat has just jumped on the bed, no worries and just awaiting the heavier paws of my pups. The advice has been just to observe normal good hygiene with your pets - keep washing hands etc. Pups paws have never been so clean!!! Please don't worry.

A lovely cockapoo. She is so gentle with my two elderly cats. One happy little furry family really.

They're known as the velcro dog. Can't even pop to the loo without company. But love her intelligence.

I used to have an English Springer like that - everyone called him my shadow.

My wee terrier Hugo wouldn't acknowledge me for years if I told him to get off the bed 😂 He is stubborn and moody to the extreme!!

From Gov.uk, updated yesterday.

“If you have pets in the household

At present, there is no evidence that companion animals/pets such as dogs and cats can be infected with coronavirus.”

The coronavirus that pets can get is not Covid-19.
