I went to our local supermarket, stupidly thought, I'll get there early before everybody, just to get a few bit, I'm not panic buying. Got there just before the shop was due to open, to fi d the car rammed, the shop even worse. Got what I needed, but what struck me was the feeling of fear running through the shop no key giving anybody eye contact or speaking, (I get that everyone is nervous) but it was sad to witness. Was glad to gry back yo my car and get home. They did have most things, but I did hear somebody say there wasn't any toilet rolls!! Luckily I don't need any 😮

Ha ha ha I have enough at the moment for about 6 weeks, I'm sure my husband will do another delivery shop this week, I'll see if I can get some then. If I can't then opps😮

I think its quite selfish of people to stock pile. My 98 year old neighbour ambled up to local shop to get hand gel and paracetomol and a couple of bits she could carry. She's old school...not much stops her! Very sad she was prevented from buying what she needed though through people's selfishness and panic. I gave her some gel.

I really do blame the constant misinformation and exaggerated press coverage. Makes me angry actually.

I’d like to no where all the hand sanitizer is besides eBay cause I’ve not seen anyone using any.

Yeah weird that!

I know, I wish people would just take what they sensibly need. It's just the fear though 😣

No problems at our local Lidl this morning, full shelves. It was busier than a normal Sunday but people weren’t going daft. Despite having a choice there weren’t loo rolls in every trolley like I saw the other day. The only thing I noticed was there were no mini bottles of hand sanitiser that are usually on the shelves above the conveyor belt, but then they had reduced it which I found most odd, I would have thought they'd sell enough of it without the need to lower the price!

The couple behind us was one of the staff & her husband. She was getting supplies because they were supposed to have flown out to Tenerife yesterday afternoon to meet up with her mum who flew out 4 days ago so now she's worried about her.

That's good to hear.

Insanity and yes hope they don’t sit there in the house scoffing several bars of chocolate a day. Likely to become obese as you say. I gave up chocolate after Christmas as it was making me have a lot of catahhr (and also increasing my waistline!) and I’ve not had much craving for it as yet, but if I see anyone with an excessive amount of Twiglets and there are none left on the shelf, I may have to take a bag of theirs whilst they are in the scrum for something else!! 😝. Seriously, I am not impressed with the selfish buyers.

Yes I don’t understand the mentality... I remember when petrol prices went up and every body panic bought years ago my neighbour drove 20 miles because she had heard a petrol station had some petrol her tank was 3/4s full but she used more than she bought as she had to wait her turn about 2hrs. She was delighted with herself.. don’t get it

No chocolate this is serious ! and it can't be made either unlike crisps thats easy but they get eaten too quick. I'm gluten free and the best bread is long life so will be ok, my husband will just have to make do with crackers if no bread. I do have bread flour and yeast so all is not lost. I really believe its not about greed but panic and panic makes people illogical. We have a couple of village shops and a butcher in reality it's making me think more about meals as we used to eat out a lot. So life is going to change I suppose and in some ways it might be good as less fast food and ready made meals in some households. I'm not saying on here but in the general population. Our local food bank is in trouble as donations are down and who is going to help the homeless. A really vulnerable group in society.

I'm lucky like most a warm home and food in the cupboard and garden and friends who we share with. I only hope that as a nation we all pull together in a time of tribulation.

Shortage of chocolate? Oh no!!

Dark chocolate (70% cocoa) is medicinal of course as it's high in anti-oxidants. We need it so should get it on prescription!!

in reply to Lolabridge

Don’t worry it’s the cheap nasty stuff these people don’t go for the healthy stuff 😁

Lol. All pasta was gone in Sainsbury's except wholemeal/ spelt spaghetti. That's the only pasta I eat anyway, but was surprise, no one else does. Other than crisps, just stuck to my normal items. Can't face the long life processed rubbish.

I went to buy some lemons and cream crackers yesterday couldn’t believe it none in sight so ended up buying a jar of beetroot and fresh mushrooms as there was plenty of them (they were on my list )if everyone just bought what they usually buy there wouldn’t be all this ,hopefully soon people will see sense x

in reply to patsymay13

No doubt there will be a mad dash for alcohol now pubs may close according to the health secretary... most of these people probably don’t go to the pub anyway but hey!!! Any excuse to panic buy. I’ve enough gin to last and if I’m desperate I’ll hit the whiskey😁if no blood tests a possibility 😜😜no one to tell me off😂😂😂😂(joking)

in reply to patsymay13

I couldn’t get ginger. When I asked an assistant if there was any in the back she said no it went days ago another panic buy🙄🙄

in reply to patsymay13

I wish now I'd gone to the shops on Wednesday after my Rheumi appointment. I'm down to 8 ibuprofen left which will last me until end of Tuesday and suspect I've got no chance of getting any if I go out this afternoon even though I normally buy the liquid capsules as less harsh on the stomach but more expensive.

What's more worrying, and my just be because I have a delivery scheduled for Tuesday evening, but Sainsburys have no available delivery slots for over 2 weeks. I'm afraid I've added a few more items to the delivery in case I can't get another delivery for over that time. Not panic buying (just a few extra items don't have and another bag of cat litter and couple of boxes of cat food) though but I suspect I'll probably not get all the order on Tuesday unfortunately.

in reply to NicolaP

There was loads of ibuprofen in Sainsbury’s today but no paracetamol

Well Savers had some Ibuprofen but had run out of Paracetamol, somebody had the last two packets while I was there. I got more normal Ibuprofen so happy.. Went into Jacks and they had a lot of Paracetamol.
