Sleeping face down
Yeas same for me. I stopped sleeping face down as it hurts to move and I struggle to get up if I do.
It was the only way I could sleep..I lost even that🤦♀️
There might be some solutions online. I remember reading something about placing a pillow under your abdomen. Sorry I am not being very helpful..
I think if you’re getting a lot of pain in your back when you sleep face down then you really need to not sleep like that snd get checked out at your GP as to why this is happening. I used to sleep on my front but a back injury meant I couldn’t so I had to persevere to be able to sleep on my side. It took a bit of time but I got there. I hope you do too 😊
My whole life I slept like that..I had pain in my back even the next day from this.i ll tell the gp next time I see her.i wish you all the best!
I don’t at the moment but I have had this in the past when my back is bad (not sure if RA related, think not).
I think it’s because the back is slightly arched, straining the ligaments. It might help to gently stretch the area if you can, on your back, raising your knees as near to chest as you are able, and hugging them. You can gently roll side to see too.
This helps me, and I always do a range of various back exercises every morning to try to prevent my back seizing up. The pain you describe above happens when my back is bad and has been strained.
Of course yours might be totally different! X
Idk...except sleeping like this I haven t done anything that could have brought me in this situation...I think it s all related to Ra..it s just destroying my other joints..I really had enough of it...
Sorry to hear that. It's hard to know isn't it? I spent 3 months last year unable to walk as my knee hurt so much - thought it was a torn cartilage. It was actually a new joint affected by RA. I can't believe I didn't realise that, but none of the medics I saw thought to suggest either. All a big learning curve.
Hope you manage to avoid the painful position whilst you're sleeping. I know how hard it is to get out of it when you're stuck there in agony
The thing is...now they reconsidered my proposal,to see a orthopaedist!i had to suggest them this🤦♀️I am in benepali and mtx!don t seam to help so much..
I was so desperate I actually spent £200 on a private orthopaedic consultation. It was a complete waste of money as the guy took one look at the MRI and said it was RA related.
You might find they can't diagnose without an MRI anyway, so whether you have it via Rheumatology or Orthopaedics it might not make any difference. Good luck anyway. Try the very gentle stretching though - it's a life saver for me...
