Well tooth going great couple days left on antibiotics. Wish could say same for rest of me, in so much pain again, not helped missing my mtx for last couple weeks. Once antibiotics are done I be trying for another steroid infusion so need some relief for more then a week so fed up of this disease it's stolen my life at the mo!

I'm so sorry to hear this. I think its impossible to understand if you haven't been there - my enbrel is, I think starting to work (for the moment) and I feel so much better. I hadn't really realised how ill I was. So sympathy from this end. Is there anything you can do or focus on that you haven't been able to? I hope you get the mtx back soon - can you, once the antibiotics have finished?

Be back on mtx Monday so hopefully will help. Went out for lunch today but that killed me so not able to do much at all again

Hope the lunch was worth it. I'm feeling able to plan a trip to see the Falkirk Kelpies tomorrow but I wont be doing much more than sitting in the car. But enbrel does seem to be shifting some of the layers of inflammation (I think)

I thought Falkirk Kelpies were a type of Scottish kipper. ;)

Hope the 'seems' soon turns out to be 'is' working regarding the enbrel.

Ill do a blog as soon as I've anything much to report. There are some encouraging signs. kipper indeed, the kelpies are a cross between water spirits and a memory of the big horses who used to pull barges on the canal between the Clyde and the Forth. There was a programme about them on bbc2 Scotland last night.

Hiya cathie. I was intrigued with your plans to see the Falkirk Kelpies as the only kelpie I've heard of was in the film Loch Ness where she says she sees the water kelpie (Nessie) so I googled it. They look magnificent & do hope you're well enough to go.

If it's not one thing it's another, poor you. Glad these latest antibiotics have worked. You're just going to have to listen to your body & take things easier till next week when you can get back to your MTX. Then you can have parties get drunk & stay up till silly o'clock, not!

I feel for you crazyjo. I well remember the time that i had to stop taking MTX after being on it for 9 years....I could not believe how much pain i was in after a couple of weeks. It sure made me appreciate good 'ole MTX.

Why have you stopped taking it...can't remember which ones, but thought there were only two types of antibiotics that you need to avoid while taking MTX?

I been advised to stop mtx on any antibiotics an landed up having four sets of them to get rid of the tooth infection

That is a stubborn infection you've had.

I remember trimethoprim being one of the antibiotics that rheumy advised me not to take. I've taken other types of antibioticfor infections when I was on MTX. I was in hospital a year or so ago and was put on an antibiotic drip for a few days to treat a serious infection. Had to continue taking antibiotic in tablet form when i was discharged. I asked one of the doctors treating me if i should stop taking MTX and was told no.

Seems to be a bit of a grey area.

Yea when I had surgery the surgeon told me to carry on taking it even thou on antibiotics as well, but rheumy nurse and my gp tell me to stop for any surgery and any antibiotics. No wonder we all get confused over our meds
