Hi Beverley I’ve had a reverse shoulder replacement done 2 years ago after 3 previous replacements were unsuccessful, I’m not sure snout stemless. I have better range of movement but still get quite a lot of pain in bed at night.
Good luck with your op 🙂
I had a reverse replacement shoulder done 3yrs ago, very successful full range of painfree movement . Good luck with your op, hope you a speedy recovery which if you do the exercises should be good.xx
Hi Beverley, I had a reverse shoulder replacement done last November and it was amazing. I had been in severe pain and only able to lift my arm up about 6". I was told that I shouldn't expect to be able to lift it up to more than shoulder height but I can actually lift it right up above my head and the pain has completely gone.
I was only in hospital for two days and there was very little pain. Even on the day I had it done, although it was a bit uncomfortable, the relief from the pain I had been having was fantastic.
I had to wear a sling for three weeks but could take it off for washing. After it was taken off I went for some physio on it. I was told I would need about 6 to 8 sessions, but I was doing so well that I was discharged after 3 sessions. I am not usually a person who gets well quickly over things so it was all very surprising. So I would say to you not to worry much and just think of how much better it will be when it is over and done with. xxx
Thank you so much for replying... I feel so much better about having it done now, I'll let you know how I get on x
I feel sure you will be alright Beverley and I would be very pleased if you let me know how you get on. xx
I had a reverse shoulder replacement 4 days ago. Still in the painful period of recovery. But I have good drugs and will start PT next week so there are hopes of a quick recovery!
Not sure what 'stemless' means. There is a stem on the arm portion of the contraption they put in my shoulder. Possibly the stem is replaced with screws?
The hardest part is that this is my left shoulder and I'm left handed......
Hi, glad you surgery went well and your recovering. A stemless just pushes into bone.. it might not be possible but I won't know until I wake up. Its done like that in case I have problems with my elbow , in which case they would not be able to replace that if there is a stem already in for my shoulder. I'm also going to have the same problem as its my right shoulder and I'm right handed... heyho just another surgery to get done then onto the next.
