Does Olumiant cause weight gain?

I seem to be gaining weight without eating anymore. Have never had a weight problem and now feel all my clothes are getting tight. I have been on Olumiant for four months.

The information that comes with olumiant ( baricitinib) says it can cause weight gain, but I've lost weight since being on it, I just don't feel hungry.

But we are all different!

Gaining weight can be an issue with some of the meds we take, can’t it? I feel I’ve gained a bit but feel it’s possibly more to do with my doing less and not using as much energy, than any particular medication.

Maybe have a chat with your doctor about it? X

I was on it for months before I was taken off it due to breathing problems and I also managed to get off steroids and I have noticed I am losing weight since, very slowly but off which is good for me. xxx

OH has been on it for nearly 18mths. No way gain year 1. Then had to stop Mtx and has some fat round the middle now whereas he didn't have an inch to pinch before. Always difficult to know whether it's due to meds combo or other factors. Maybe it will be like cholesterol, rise then settle. Putting on wt without the pleasure of eating more is a swizz 😞

Hi, Jessie, yes! I’ve put a stone on in 6 months and had no change of diet or mobility, unfortunately a side effect for some but not all. Keep well 🤗X
