Has anyone noticed that while on mtx food tastes different, I used to live a cooked dinner but not had one now for six months or so , my Christmas dinner was one piece of turkey with one roast potato And I always sneeze when I eat bread I don’t know why , can anyone maybe explain why ?

I have reduced food intake and prefer quite plain food now and portion sizes much smaller. I also after MTX go off food for 24-36hrs or very picky. Fluid intake is even higher than I was which was always high with water 💦

Can’t say I’ve noticed that Buckybri, but then maybe I’ve got used to it now.

Hi yes, my food/drink tastes have totally changed on MTX - an example being I was always a tea drinker, never coffee - now I love coffee!🤔

I used to enjoy coffee pre RD, now I drink tea !

My gut doesn't tolerate sugar, but the biggest change is I have completely gone off alcohol, I've been t total for 3 years.

Same here been 6 months now without a beer and I used to always have a beer at the weekend , the problem there is I very rarely go out now with my mates , when I see them drunk I think I’m out of here and go home lol

Me too Mm, rather foolishly I used to drink a lot more alcohol than I should have throughout the 8 or more years I was on methotrexate...guess my liver was lucky to get away with that! :-O

I stopped drinking alcohol about 6years ago. Not for health reasons, I simply lost the taste for the stuff plus the fun went out of it.

I wish! I might lose some weight then. I’ve not noticed any difference in the taste of food and still eat too much of it 🙄

I used to have a really sweet tooth ,loved my puddings . It was a rare day when i didn't eat chocolate of some sort. Now I rarely have either. They just don't taste the same and if I eat them I feel 'off' .

Unfortunately crisps and salty food are what helps with my post mtx nausea. And ginger . I was never a fan of either before mtx ! :)

Hi I eat more as I have more of an appetite since starting , I do seem to crave salty savoury stuff though.

Yep, changes to taste. When using oral MTX I decided to take it straight after dinner one week. It changes my taste immediately and my after dinner cuppa was a total waste. I didn't try that again!

I found my taste was pretty altered for about 36 hours or so and anything tomato based was a real issue with acid reflux etc. We aslo worked out that it wasn't worth trying anything new the day after MTX as I really couldn't discern what was what.

With the injections I'm finding my taste is pretty permenantly altered but not drastically, my cuppa is largely drinkable (just as well, I don't really like coffee), more a background taste/sensation than anything obvious. Just another joy of the meds, ho hum.

Found everyhing became very bland on MTX, could have been eating cardboard. Now I have spices to add eg chilli as I found food had no taste. Partner surprised when I wanted food with a kick like horseradish, mustard, which I had never sought out before.
