What's causing me to become so clumsy?

Since diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis caused by RA I've been put on oxygen therapy. I'm managing ok up to now but I seem to have developed a clumsy gene ☹️☹️

Does anyone else have this problem ? I'm dropping things, I've drenched myself when washing up and I've dropped my dinner on the floor several times. Breathing problems make it difficult to clean up the mess lol

I was born clumsy, so it’s normal for me but any change in something like this - especially given your lung condition - is definitely worth a chat with a medical professional.

Thank you for your comment. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks so I will ask the question. I wasn't sure if I was being over dramatic 😕

I'm terribly clumsy, I drop everything & anything, not helped by OA having a real go at my hands. They're stiff & the joints are swollen so it's understandable to a point but it's so frustrating when you think you're still holding something & you're not. I bought some loose sausages on Saturday & was holding them by the bag's knot, or I thought I was. An elderly gentleman saw I'd dropped them & must have realised I was oblivious to the fact, picked them up & handed them to me, bless him.

I have had the Health Assessment Questionnaire & from that referred to Rheumatology-connected Occupational Therapy for hand exercises. They've been better doing these but as I say my OA is having a right go at the mo.

I would say it's definitely something to discuss with your Rheumy, see what his take on it is & if there's anything he can do or anyone he thinks you may benefit from being referred to.

Thank you, I'm sorry to hear you're having a flare up, I hope it settles soon. Of course the cold doesn't help. My RA is ok at the moment but it gets me in my hands when it flares. It's very frustrating as you say when the simplest of tasks proves almost impossible. I'm off to bed now so I'll see if I can manage it without getting my knickers in a twist 😏😏 I'm ever the optimist lol x

I dont have much problem with my hands pain & swelling wise, unless its a really bad flare, its the larger joints generally, but I do drop things quite a lot. Rheumy did quick check regarding problems with nerve ie Q on tingling etc but I dont have anything obvious so put it down to me & one of my symptoms of Rd. I also am not aware if I drop or if things slip in my hands by feel sometimes. Definately worth a word at your next visit. Let us know as maybe more cknstructive info for you.

I go through stages where I drop a lot when I least expect it. Sometimes tiredness can do it. I live with my so n and he is just like me...dropping things. One day I made him a fab fried rice and before I knew it the fry pan had slid to the floor I managed to save half of it. It was the best fried rice I had ever made. ..my fried rice are usually failures. Lol.

Yep I developed that gene as well. My favourite thing was to knock my coffee in the WiFi plug. Not useful lol 😂

Haha, nice to know I'm in good company!

I had a very happy dog yesterday when I dropped half my beef dinner on the kitchen floor lol today I settled for dropping my dinner down my jumper 😕
