Hi.I am very embarrassed that I seem to be constantly yawning when I go out with people. It is not because I am bored - quite the opposite, but I don't sleep at all well. I think I yawn a lot anyway on my own, but when I am out it is horrid and I am constantly apologising! I wondered if anyone else gets this and how it affects them. Thanks

yawning
I know and I do it too! The scientific explanation is that we do it to cool our brain by taking in more oxygen.
I have intense bouts of yawning each afternoon around 3.30, just about now. It passes and I'm okay until bedtime. Very strange.
I'm new here-not really-been reading for a while. So much helpful info from such kind people!
Yawning is a sign of lack of oxygen. Try taking several very deep and slow breaths to increase your oxygen intake. This could also help with getting to sleep. Sometimes I don't get to the third deep breath!
It may simply part of the fatigue that can go along with Rheumatoid Disease.
Know what you mean. I don’t sleep well on methotrexate and so get tired easily and yawn a lot. But willing to put up with it because mtx does such a brilliant job controlling my RA.
I am exactly the same and sometimes just continually yawn which as you say is embarrassing if you are with other people. I have sometimes stood by an open door or window and taken some deep breaths but it doesn't seem to have helped much. I have just put it down to being very tired with my illnesses.

Hi, I have the same problem although this generally happens at home, I make the effort to conceal it when with others.
The disease of COPD has this effect blame it on the illness (Not your fault)
