Operation tomorrow.

Hello everyone. I am going into hospital tomorrow to have a shoulder replacement and I am feeling very nervous about it. I have been waiting since February to have it done and have very mixed feelings about it as I am nervous but on the other hand pleased I am going to get it over and done with at last. I think having the surgeon tell me all the things that can go wrong made me feel worse, but I know that they would have to do that.

I’d be NERVOUS NERVOUS too! You are brave. Wishing you all the best for successful surgery, full recovery and an amazing improvement to that joint function. I hope you have someone to assist when you get home. Physio for it might need dedication but such freedom later! 🙂

Thank you Charisma. Yes my husband is retired now so will be here to look after me. My son is also still living at home so will be here in the evenings and weekends. As you say I will need to keep up the physio. My other shoulder is not that great, but this one is awful, so painful all the time and I can only lift it up a few inches. I also need both my knees replacing so it seems never ending. I had a small op in April this year as well.

A wee good news tory for you , my friend had both shoulders replaced, one at a time, with great success. She owns and runs her own book store / coffee shop which she really struggled with before her replacements. She is now back to baking for her shop and walks her dog.

All the very best for tomorrow & your recovery hw. I do wish they didn’t have to tell us the down sides, I would prefer to be left just thinking they do these replacements day in day out but rules is rules.

Do as you're told & I hope the nursing staff are lovely for you. Let us know how it went when you're able. x

All the very best.try relax and get through it.i had a replacement shoulder this week last year. The awful pain went immediately. I found it more marked than with hips or knees. Difficult few weeks as my right one but not as cataclysmic as I thought it would be.follow the physio rules and you will be so pleased.

Good luck x

Best of luck. I had back surgery in Sept and it’s a long road to recovery. However, I’m getting there. You will to just have to go through the crap to get through it. 🙏
