Pip update and dry eyes, mouth😵

Hello a while ago I posted about a PIP assessment.... Thank you any one who replied...sorry I didn't say 'thanks' back then. So I am waiting for them to decide whether I can still have PIP. Here's hoping🙄

On another note does any one have any thoughts on this - I am on the biologic tocilizumab. In recent weeks I have been getting a very dry mouth, dry throat, dry lips, sometimes sore in the corners of lips, sore in my mouth and tongue, and now hoarseness and stuffy nose.

I have taken an antidepressant for a long time so I have had dry mouth at times but this is different.

Could this be side effects?

Thanks 😊

Thank you, yes I have wondered about this but Thursday I came down with a heavy cold. The dry thirsty itchy symptoms have lifted so will see how things go once over the cold. 😊

Hi mousling,

I am on Toc ( for about 9 months now ) and get these things too ... sore mouth especially at corners, dry nose, eyes etc. It varies from week to week and is usually worst after the injection then almost wears off by the time next one comes along. I have talked to GP about it who says the Toc. could well be having an effect on more delicate skin.

Hi yes it probably is connected to the drug. I now have a cold since Thursday so presume it was the beginnings of that. the really bad symptoms of dryness, thirst, itchy eyes etc have lifted..... Now lovely cold symptoms instead!! I had my last injection on Monday so I will see how the dry symptoms go when I have my next. I am 'in' menopause too so it is difficult to know what causes what.

How have you found Toc? I have found the biologics really work...I had allergic reactions to biologics previous to going on to Toc. I have been on it about 18 mths it has given me my life back. I don't, think so many people are on it, it is nice to talk to someone who is. 😊
