Apremilast/Ortezia

Hi everyone,

My RA diagnosis is gradually changing to possible Psioritic Arthritis due to a scabby dry bit on my scalp that has developed. Having tried a wide range of DMARDS and Biologics and had bad reactions to them all regarding nausea and vomiting and not a great deal of benefit, I have had a years break from drugs. Meantime my Arthritis, of whatever flavour, has got steadily worse. Just about to go in for a knee replacement so pretty apprehensive of the timing of a new drug. This week I have started on Apremilast which I know is fairly new in terms of arthritis drugs. Just wondered how anyone has got on with this drug .. I am still not on the full strength dose for two more days and so far so good.... Has it been effective and have the side effects been tolerable...

Hi, I have been on apremilast for several years now and hope it works well for you - I was unfortunate to have some tummy upset with it when I started which I was told is not uncommon, and I just soldiered through that until things settled. So great to hear that things are going ok for you with it - like so many of the drugs prescribed can take a bit of time for it to have its maximum effect.

Thanks Aurora, Yes I have some gastric issues but nothing like as bad a caused by the biologics I have tried previously. Headaches too but now it has been around four weeks its settling down a little bit.
